Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: GUEST,Van Date: 30 Oct 04 - 07:20 AM It's earlier than Lennon - perhaps Mark Twain? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: michaelr Date: 29 Oct 04 - 09:23 PM Yes, Reagan was shot but not seriously wounded. Chapman succeeded and Hinckley failed? There is no God. BTW, Chapman is up for parole again. Do you think he should get it? Cheers, Michael |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: GUEST,Auggie-cookieless Date: 29 Oct 04 - 07:45 PM Lts Many of us on the nutcake-laden side of the pond remember where we were when we heard the news of Lennon's fate.I was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell of all people(no way could you get further in personality from John than Howard was) broke in with the news. You just knew though, if it had to happen to anyone in the music world, no one would be a more likely candidate than John. The enormity of the loss was apparent immediately. With respect to your second point-yes , I remember exactly where I was when JFK was shot, but What? Reagan was shot? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: Ooh-Aah2 Date: 29 Oct 04 - 05:33 PM I remember my mother white, shaking and in tears, and saying 'I suppose some bastard just had to fucking do that' - she NEVER swears normally. It was only later that I realised just what we have lost. Got tears in my eyes now actually! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: Liz the Squeak Date: 29 Oct 04 - 05:36 AM I was getting ready to go to school when I heard.. it was my 5th year and I spent most of the morning in shock or in tears. Bear in mind, they were a link with my brother, a huge Beatles fan, who had introduced me to them by constant playing. In fact, I knew more about John than I did about my own brother! He'd died only a few years previously so things were still a little fragile. I really did 'break down and cry' and spent a great deal of the day just sitting and staring at nothing. Americans remember where they were when Kennedy was shot, Brits remember where they were when Lennon was shot. No-one cares what they were doing when Reagan was shot! LTS |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: Gypsy Date: 28 Oct 04 - 10:56 PM sigh, sleep is a good thing. Should've finished my thought.....we were with friends, sharing a meal, and having wine when we heard. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: Gypsy Date: 28 Oct 04 - 10:55 PM Thats right..........and where were you that december, hmmmm? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: Liz the Squeak Date: 28 Oct 04 - 12:31 AM It's all his. Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. Very apt, considering what happened that December. LTS |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: chris nightbird childs Date: 28 Oct 04 - 12:26 AM Lennon wrote it as far as I know. Certainly sounds like one of his... |

Subject: Lyr Req: lennon quotation From: GUEST,pdalessa Date: 27 Oct 04 - 05:24 PM I know that the following famous phrase is from "Beautiful Boy" on John Lennon's Double Fantasy album, but does anyone out there know of an earlier source for this wording? Is John quoting someone when he writes: "life is what happens while you're making other plans" ???? I'm all ears. |
