I hope it stands up o.k., so my wife is satisfied. She's been begging for it for quite a while.

"My wood should be in soon", said the carpenter to the receptionist!

Getting the furniture all out of the way, and getting the sub-floors cleaned up ready to glue it down, has already been the biggest job I've let myself in for in a long time.

Ah... then you get the joys of clearing up for months afterwards... but just think, at the end of it, you'll get a beautiful warm, living thing, it's just a bit harder on the feet.

For the benefit of the confused here is a link to Rogers' Profanisaurus which, if you scroll down to the "g" section as far as "getting wood", you will find a helpful explanation.

I'm sure it stems from being children of the "Carry On" generation that some of us have a highly developed sense of the double-entendre!
Anyway frogprince, I hope you managed to get it laid nicely and to your wifes' satisfaction. My wife is also very partial to hard-wood and would like to have it in every room in the house if she could find a man who could stay hard at it,hammering away all day until the job was done.
My knees just aren't up to it these days!

(cue Sid James laughter) Heh,heh,heh!!

C-flat.

Weetabix is not funny if you live in Burton Latimer.

I thought I was a northerner, although geographically only just.

Hence we say that we'll go to the FOOT of the stairs.

Funny what you find out whilst waiting for the sap to rise.

the forest fire that destroyed 60,000 acres here left a lot of dead trees standing, and the wind drops them every time there is a big gust. So there is plenty of wood here for fires. Also many of these fire killed trees were milled for lumber to build my new house...so there is plenty of kindling from the scraps from construction, so this winter will be a warm one!
