Art called tonight to ask me to tell everyone he is offline until Chris can get over there to look at his computer. It's telling him it doesn't recognise or can't find his modem. Anyway, he cannot get connected at all, so while the emails, PMs etc. pile up please be patient. He'll be here as soon as it gets fixed.:-)

He sounded good and pulled my leg in the tradition of Fine Art. We were talking about people getting divorced.

He says, "Well I told you about my 98 year old grandparents, didn't I?"
Hook, line, and sinker, of course I said, "No, what about them?"
"They got divorced."
I said, "How old were they?"
"Ninety-eight. When they went to court, the judge said after all this time, what made you decide to divorce now? I am off making appropriate sounds of amazement. He continues..."They said, well we really loved one another at first, then we decided to stay together for the sake of the kids, but now that they've all died, well..." at which point I finally sussed out his pulling my leg, again!

Sins, from the sounds of it, I don't think Art would be able to...as for me...I'd get around better there than here, as it is sea level, lots more O2 in the air, there.:-) Still, it will depend on a few things, including energy, finances, and maybe finding an RV to rent or borrow. I would not have lasted this year, at all, in that cold, no matter how many hugs I got!**bg** I am going to do my best because i really, really want to be there. I'm also working on a few other people who've never been!

Well, heck, you tell Art about my great-Uncle Fergus.

He got married at 93 to a young lady of 19. Every morning, my two brothers had to go over to his house and position Uncle Fergus on top of Aunt Lisa. Then, long about 4 p.m., they got my three cousins to go over and help get him off.

I asked about it; I said that two big strong fellers should probably be able to lift Fergus off, him not weighing more than about 80 pounds soaking wet and all.

"Well," said my cousin Greg, "ya know, he'll fight ya."

My granpappy was just about that age when he married an 18 year old; we were afraid it would be fatal, and sure enough it was;

But he turned right around and married another one.

Katlaughing and Leadfingers: both those jokes are ones that Art used on stage. Is there a joke or pun he hasn't used? Every time I listen to one of his albums, I am impressed all over again with how easily he interjects the jokes and puns into his patter, and how he seems to have such easy rapport with his audience. I perform a little and slip in a few jokes as I go, but I know the master when I hear hear him! I only saw Art in action once, but he was something to behold.

Well, Sid Caesar used to say there are no old jokes, only old audiences. But I think when you've been around as long as Art, you probably heard 'em all when they were new anyway!

I'd like to be "off line for a bit" - but she's gone to play badminton so I might as well stay on line!
