Just to say thanks to all of you who came along and supported the festival -( I hope you all enjoyed it and will come again next year
- word is that there will be another!)
Heard excellent reports of the singarounds ceilidhs and the concerts I heard in passing sounded good.

Thanks to all those Sheffield people who fitted in their sessions round the festival to help make it a success - you were all great! And to those who travelled in from far and wide to run sessions thank you too

Les and Mags thanks for your Iced Gem session - Sheffield now knows what one is and I think are looking forward to more in the future
Lady A. and Padge thanks for your sessions and putting up with all the programme changes. Brid Widder hope you feel better now! MCFAT hope you are still speaking to me!

It was great to see everyone there if you have any comments you want to make please PM me so that we can look at improving things for next year when we meet in a couple of weeks to discuss the outcome and find out if we made enough money to pay for everything.

Hope you all enjoyed your survivors sessions

Sue

I do hope that there will be another.

Went to several events and enjoyed them immensely.

The atmosphere was very friendly and on the assumption that confirmation of a date in 2005 can be made soon it can be put into diaries.

Congrats to all concerned for an excellent first FOLK FESTIVAL.

Thanks Sue I am feeling much better... just in time for work!!

We had a good weekend despite me feeling poorly... I especially enjoyed George Welch... and your 'Have a go' workshop... I think every festival should have one of those... & for grown-ups not just kids... Thanks too for the use of the camper van... here's hoping this was the first of many.. well done everyone.

I must thank everyone who turned in to teh excellent singing sessions held in teh infamous Fagan's pub on Sat pm some good local support from talented singers such as Tegwen Roberts, Paul Pearson and Bay

Thanks to Jude for her work at teh Hillsbrough Hotel on Sat night
Support from Finbar and his company for coming all the way from London to sing some excellent political compositions in a simple but not easy way!

Johny Beirne ? 87 years young singing among other things the Croppy Boy, a version I've never heard before in Fagan's

All praise to Jim McDonald for his sublime patience and organisation with the team, to Ron and Jenny Day and all the others whose names I don't know, Yes I'm a creep!!
Aplogies to all 'smoked' off, eg Nick Burdett
No smoking in pubs can't come early enough for me!

You got him to sing the Croppy boy after I went home to sort myself out for the evening session! I'm gutted that's something I really wanted to hear. I'm going to have to hang around Fagans for ages now until that comes up again.

Thanks to all that turned up to the Saturday night session in the Kelham Island Tavern. It was a fun night.

Julie

After a mammoth day on Sunday cumulating in a mega survivors sesh at the Hillsborough which was absolutly double fantastic (HPA and Bringin in the Sheaves on a stick) I was a little squiffy but nevertheless had a good time and hope I disn't embaress myself to much but had to relax. Thanks to all who came and supported Padge and Lady A did their usual sterling stuff aided and abbetted by Les & Mags and the rest of the crew. Sorry I could get to Fagans cos I knew that would be a mega sesh. Iced Gems was as we all knew it would be a success (first Whitby then Holmfirth then Warwick now Sheffield tommorrow the world !!) all the pubs sesshs seem to have gone down well. Committee and sponsors are meeting soon (when we've rested) to discuss this weekend and next year. Ta too you all

MC
Congrats on what seems to have been a great weekend.
Sorry I couldn't make it, looks like I reeeeally missed out.

Just to echo a previous writer, please let us know the dates for 2005 as soon as possible so I can make sure that I get there.
(That's always assuming that Sheffield and you can stand doing it all over again!!)

Well done mate.

Sorry, I've just realised that there are probably dozens of other people who all helped organise that weekend and that they deserve a round of applause as well.
So not just to Jim, but to them as well, Congratulations and thanks.

Congratulations and thanks to the team for organising a brilliant weekend. There was so much going on it was impossible to get to everything, but I particularly enjoyed the 'Voices' and 'Sheffield Young Artists' concerts. What a wealth of talent there is in and around Sheffield!
Everyone was really friendly, the pubs were very welcoming and the beer excellent.
Our weekend was finished off in fine style with a great session at the Kelham Island Tavern - our 9.00pm leaving deadline slipped to past 10.30!
I hope it will become an annual event.

Well we had a great time. We would particularly like to thank a great team of organising committee members and stewards who really went out of their way to be helpful.

Ray, you missed out big time! The Sunday singaround that we hosted for you was in the Kelham Island Tavern's non-smoking room! We had to pop out from time to time to fill our lungs with lovely smoke.

The pubs we visited (Fagan's, Red Deer, Hillsborough Hotel and the Kelham Island Tavern) were excellent - good range of beers etc and very friendly staff. I hope that this praise can get back to them.

The choice of Kelham Island was inspired as well. Hosting the festival there with great rooms for workshops and a great cafe and a smashing room for concerts, craft and music stalls was very clever. The fact that we had an industrial museum there was such a bonus, and I'm sure that the fact that visiters will leave with such a good taste of Sheffield's hertitage will not be lost on your City Fathers.

Well done everyone
Les and Maggie

I echo the kudos to those who organised this do – I don't know who all the organisers were, so I won't mention names in case I leave out someone, but I will mention that Mike & Brenda Steel headed up the committee & deserve extra-special thanks & kow-tows for doing so!

Organising/running any festival is no easy thing – but starting one up from scratch is particularly challenging – so ALL HAIL our wonderful & intrepid SFF organisers! The good news is that it should get easier from here on in...

Had a fab time - ta very much. Sorry about the smoking Little Legs!

One highlight for me was the drunk (not one of us) on the tram to the Hillsborough. There he was standing & waiting for the tram to stop & thought he's show off by bursting into the first line of 'Would you like to swing on a star'....imagine his reaction when 7/8 voices (ours) all joined in with him. Wind out of sails I think.
Thanks to all the organisers
Lady A
