Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Answer to country song...Frauhlein From: masato sakurai Date: 31 Oct 04 - 07:21 PM It's probably Kitty Wells' "I'll Always Be Your Fraulein." The audio recording is at The Record Lady's All-Time Country Favorites (Click on "Real Country Page 14"). The tune is the same as Bobby Helms' "Fraulein," which is also at "Real Country Archives Page 4." |
Subject: Lyr Add: I'LL ALWAYS BE YOUR FRAULEIN From: masato sakurai Date: 31 Oct 04 - 07:26 PM From here. I'LL ALWAYS BE YOUR FRAULEIN I'm that old German's daughter Far across deep, blue water I still live by the old river Rhine Where you loved me and told me That you loved me only You called me your pretty fraulein (Chorus:) If there's a doubt in your mind I'm still your fraulein And each night as the moon starts to shine Where you once held my hand I go there and stand I'll always be your fraulein As the stars shine above me They tell me a story Of our love that was so divine As we walked by the river The two of us together You called me your pretty fraulein (Repeat chorus) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Answer to country song...Frauhlei From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 01 Nov 04 - 10:17 AM Just a couple of pedantic comments, and then I'll shut up (for the moment): First, there's no "h" in "fraulein". Second: Despite the English pronunciation of the combination of "a" and "u", and despite the usual rendition in this and another song featuring the word "fraulein", the word is not "frowlein" nor yet "frawlein", but "froylein". Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Answer to country song...Frauhlei From: Wolfgang Date: 03 Nov 04 - 07:27 AM Reading the lyrics I get the impression that this is just the song we had sung to us by Chris Howland in a German with a deliberately thick American accent: Fraulein (German lyrics) This song was for some time not played in German radio for obscenity (the German lyrics are just as decent as the English). Looking at it from today, the only obscenity in that song was how Howland pronounced the word 'Fraulein'. Wolfgang |
Subject: Lyr Add: Fräulein (from Chris Howland) From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Nov 04 - 01:19 AM for the record, here are the lyrics Wolfgang linked to. -Joe Offer- Fräulein (as sung by Chris Howland) Hey Fräulein, Hey Fräulein. |
