Not sure who would want to run it - neither Mick nor I would want to commit to more than the one that we have already. R |

Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: ossonflags Date: 08 Nov 04 - 12:36 PM Little confused over this percussion section, maybe you could explain? Yeh, I am aware the pub is now run by Mary, but paid your respects to the pub and she wasn't there. Teresa is one of the many Clifford sisters and she is part of that fine harmony group from Hull "These Girls Don't Dust" you probably know her sister Chrissie better. |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 08 Nov 04 - 10:15 AM Michael Glad to hear you had a good time on Dingle, the percussion section you refer to wasn't to percussion section I was referring to. Incidentally Nora passed on years ago Mary Murphy now runs the bar, she's Nora's Daughter in Law and a very fine woman too!! Who is the Teresa you refer to? |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: Cod Fiddler Date: 08 Nov 04 - 09:57 AM I'm really sorry I wasn't there too. I'm glad you all had such a good session. I'm looking forwards to the next one already. I had a fab weekend up in the Borders at Denholm where I spent my days in the pub fiddling with Niknak and her friends from the folk degree in Newcastle and a load of other brilliant young musicians. I now have a collection of beermats covered in the names of tunes I will be learning ASAP. I also heard Blazin' Fiddles. Wow! Words cannot descibe how inspired I am! Richard. PS doing fine thanks Muppett. See you at Hull Flok Club! |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: Sweetfia Date: 08 Nov 04 - 07:24 AM Damn, wish I had been there, from what Dad said it really was one of the best sessions! |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: ossonflags Date: 08 Nov 04 - 06:07 AM Well done! well done! well done !!!!!!!!!!!! all of you. One of the best "Monks" sessions we have had. Thanks to all,Sir Rog, Les, Brian and Kieth, Issyfit, Oombanjo, the newcomers from Leeds, the Bartom wanderers and Skippys bro' in law, Jed, ElTed, Chrissie,Deanmeister, Bill,Graham and Sue, Bassic - if I have left anyone out, apoplogies but please don't shout at me. We had a smashing time indeed,Raggy, apart with us all coming down with a cold bug.Crossing going was crap, got onto Ringaskiddy six hours late. Percussion was excellant as we had the lovely Theresa visiting us from her new home in Clare and she did sterling service on the ow'ld goatskin - and the vocals. We even got a paying gig! By the by, did you ever see and hear Eric the French lad who plays the bodhran in Dingle? What a larker !!!! "Whispering" Chris Mullins abandoned his carreer as a musician for this trip and reverted back to his old position as a sensitive singer. Paid your respects to Nora Murphy in Brandon and drank a few in the "South Pole" in Annascaul. All in all a great trip with lovely company. |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 08 Nov 04 - 05:22 AM Mick Did you have a good time in Ireland, weather looked atrocious from what I saw, how was the percussion section |

Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: ossonflags Date: 07 Nov 04 - 05:05 AM Well said, Rog !!!! |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 06 Nov 04 - 10:15 AM I think that if the singer and the audience have both drunk enough the effect can be magical. See you tomorrow |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: ossonflags Date: 05 Nov 04 - 10:25 AM My pint drinking always seem to improve after a few songs...............! |
Subject: RE: Monks walk session beverley From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 05 Nov 04 - 08:09 AM One good bevvy is enough Mick - I'll just drink more of that one. My singing always sounds better to me after a few pints :-) R |
