Subject: Walton Seasong Festival 19-21 Nov From: Dave Bryant Date: 04 Nov 04 - 11:36 AM As it's only just over two weeks away, I thought I'd mention this weekend. There is an advert for it on this site - It's usually a fun event. "The Royal Marine" is a great pub selling some fine real ales with what I can only describe as a rather liberal attitude towards closing time - anyone who's been to the Walton Folk Festival will know what I mean. For anyone who doesn't know it, Walton-on-the-Naze is a small seaside town in North Essex, between Clacton and Harwich, East of Colchester. It boasts the second longest pier in the UK, a lifeboat (currently Tyne Class) and a great little folk music scene. It's an easy hour's drive from the M25/A12 junction, and is also accessible by train. For any further information ring 01255 677006. |

Subject: RE: Walton Seasong Festival 19-21 Nov From: Dave Bryant Date: 04 Nov 04 - 12:36 PM Forgot to mention it, but as Walton is a seaside town, you can often find accommodation, especially out of season - if you're looking for somewhere try ringing the organiser (01255 677006 - landlord of "The Royal Marine"). It's definitely a festival for joining in - you should get a chance to sing if you want to. Anyone else out there interested ? |
Subject: RE: Walton Seasong Festival 19-21 Nov From: Dave Bryant Date: 08 Nov 04 - 05:05 AM Refresh It's a pity that it clashes with Buntingford this year, but with the booked singers including: Portsmouth Shanty Men, Keith Kendrick & Lynne Heraud, Paul Sirman, Malcom Ward, Hunt the Wren, Owen Lewis etc, there will be no shortage of singers. |

If you like singing shanties and sesongs, aren't too far away from Essex, and are looking for something to do next weekend, then why not think about this event - it's always great fun. Beside the booked guest, we're hoping to have some dutch shanteymen from Cap Hoorn across the North Sea. |
