Hello Mister! Its the fellow with the `cello here ;-) Love the new CD and cant wait to hear more of it "live"! Your arival as a member here is quite timely. A question arose in the chatroom a couple of days ago as to the origins and meaning of the name of your band, "Cara". Care to enlighten us? We would never get anything sensible out of Oakley so no point in asking him! ;-)*BG*

According to Skipjack, Cara means high-yielding red potato variety.

And now we need only entice the Bloke from Kiss to join up and we will boast the entire potato orchestra as members. Welcome indeed to MR, who found his way to my heart through my stomach with lashings of spiced pig.

Bassic, Cara means friend. Our little band, Cara, is based on the friendship that we have so it seemed apposite. That's all there is to it.

Mike

Who owes you £5 quid Oaklet?

I invented the owing me five quid ruse because he is such a nice nice bloke and his thread had dropped off the end. He doesn't owe me five quid really. But if he did I'd let him off anyway.

Only JR to join now, then one of the most excellent bands around are complete. The new CD is just like the other two-just superb. This band pulls at your heart strings. It's an honour to know you.

They were great at Market Rasen Folk Club. It's such a pleasure to have them at my club.

JR - an excellent guitarist, who could play his guitar if he was asleep - so good is he.
Oaklet - makes his fiddle talk - I particularly like the way that he took Janey under his arm and looked after her. Nice one Oaklet.
MR - What can you say - such a multi talented player of different instruments plus his excellent vocals.

Apart from that, I gave them each a free Cd of the Yellowbellies CD which had their Abbeyfeale recording on for charity. They insisted on paying £10 each to go to the charity. What can you say to that, other than thankyou. So humbling.

Have been listening to their new CD today in the car. I agree with your comments Eric the Viking.

Nah Nozza. Just Noreen's Mazurka, Noreen's Reel, the Straw Noreen (my favourite), The Life and Times of Noreen, The Humours of Noreen and Noreen's return. My other favorite is "I'm off to Noreen". Apart from that, there is singing on it.

These pain killers are really chewy...

It's full of excellent music, but I have played The Faerie queen and An Eirinn on repeat for ages! EVEN Mrs V -who dislikes most folk music said that she could listen to Cara for a long time and still enjoy them-now that is saying something in a world where most CD's last from 3 seconds to a whole CD in her listening scale. We have all three, and Mrs V never complains when they are playing even back to back!!!

How fitting that lovely Francis Bacon sketch commemorates Oak's arm before it was so horribly disfigured with that carbunkle. I am told he fell victim whilst on a boot camp experiment run by a rock-fixated member of the correctional service. Come to think of it, you never see Oak and the Elephant Man at the same time these days.........

Cheers from sunny Beverley in red. I procured a copy of Cara's CD last night from some dodgy dry stone waller in Monks Walk. If it's rubissh I will expect a refund!
