So everything is settled. Among the possible interpretations of "word" as a possible typo, besides "Word (MS)" and "work" -- which it really was -- is (as I mentioned earlier) "world." Does it say something about ME that I thought the song might have been "about not liking [the] world"? (See current BS thread in "Has the world ended already?" or words to that effect.) |

It plays havoc with one's reading skills: each word suddenly gains a huge list of possible spellings and interpretations. Where most folks just see the word "word," I wonder if the writer could have meant "Word" or "words," spelled "work" wrong, or was cut off before completing "wardrobes" AND spelled it wrong. And I could go on... See what I mean? Well, at any rate, I hope the original poster can find this thread again when he decides to check in, since I was able to answer the question! Claire |

Originally I entitled it "Song about not liking work" which how I remember the song. I realised I mistyped the title and when I went back to correct it I decided to change it to "Going Nowhere". Only someone like Joe could tell me why it changed on the posting and not on the thread title. Thanks for the information and if you could post the words I'd be very grateful, Claire. By the way, I was actually a little surprised to learn that you, too, were actually thinking about *that* particular "Word." I figured that, likely as not, I could have been the first/only one to think first about that hated hunk of WP software in this context. (It was spelled with a lowercase "w," after all.) |

I'm afraid that I didn't actually notice the name change because it was already called "Song about not liking word" when I clicked on it the first time. I should have understood Greg Stephens' post, but somehow it didn't sink in. You see, because I first came to the thread expecting to read how someone besides me was frustrated with Word, the leap from there to the lyrics to "Going Nowhere" -- a song that I know quite well that IS about the kind of frustrations I feel every day -- was not really such a stretch. Coming at it from the other direction, though, I don't see it either. And speaking of mysteries, now I don't seem to be able to post to this thread. This is my third try. This always makes me suspect I'm "going nowhere, nowhere at all," often gives me a distinct feeling of having "lost control," and not infrequently makes me aware there's "only one direction and it's all uphill..." Just try working in revision marking mode for about ten hours a day (and then having your clients mark it all back to the way it was before) and you'll see what I mean. Claire |

Member Brian Bedford wrote the song. I have the CD at home and believe it has a lyrics sheet, so keep us posted if you want them. |
