Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 12 Nov 04 - 01:34 PM Folks, thanks for your welcome welcomeing!! My FOLK SCENE PHOTOS on line are not what I sent KAT on a CD. A few of the Folk Photos were on there too---but just the ones I also thought of as among my best photos. The rest on that CD were on all sorts of other topics BESIDES the folk scene----just what I thought worth snapping over the years---but all were ones I like best. Kat, I'm glad you and Rog are njoying them. Many of 'em exhibit a certain bizarre sense of humor --- visual puns sort of. I've heard it said that coincidents are God's puns! Anyhow, a reminder that you can view my folk photos at: http://rudegnu.com/art_thieme.html (Enter the word- mudcat (lower case) as both the user name and the password.) Thanks again to Max and Joe and Dick and Kat and all of you for this community here that sometimes I'm not appreciative enough of. And thanks to Bruce Kallick for providing the space on his site for my snapshots.---- Feel free to pass the site on to anyone you know who might enjoy seeing it. Art |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: Bert Date: 12 Nov 04 - 11:05 PM Geez Art! That great lug of a Mick talking in a bloody foreign language gets a comment, but a pure Cockney welcome goes unnoticed. Bugger, bugger, bugger! Yearggh! - Ah well, we still love ya, even though you know doodly squat about ENGLISH folklore! *HEE HEE* |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 13 Nov 04 - 01:14 AM Bob, I didn't go anywhere. As it turns out, I just had to get a new modem---a much smaller problem to fix than I'd realized. It's been got, so I'm here again----courtesy of son Chris. Kendall, I hear ya loud and clear. Keep on being better each day. Art |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: harpgirl Date: 13 Nov 04 - 01:21 AM Hi Art I saw Bryan Bowers tonight and I see he is playing in the Art Thieme room at that place in Chicago next week. I need to write you a long letter and send the banjo music I copied but then haven't got into the bubble mailer. I'm a bad friend.....love,harp |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 13 Nov 04 - 09:08 PM Yes, Harp, it was very nice of those good folks to name their concert space for me. I'm continually amazed by people. And it's grand to see artists like Brian booked into that concert series. It just makes me speechless---and chokes me up. And you stay out of that bubble mailer!! Way too little oxygen. You would never survive the trip--even though it'd be fun seeing you after all those years since the Ark. ;-) Art |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: KathWestra Date: 14 Nov 04 - 09:34 AM Hey, welcome back buddy. Your name was invoked a number of times at NOMAD recently--most notably in Scott Alarik's concert set. He sang your neat version of shule aroon, and rattled off Thieme-isms (with attribution and abandon!). It was a treat to meet him after admiring his writing for so many years, and to learn he's as big a fan of your songs and wit as I am. Didn't realize Scott was a fine singer as well as one of the best writers about folk music I've ever read. A treat! In packing for my recent move to Maine I came across incontrovertible photographic evidence of Cathy Fink receiving the "panjo" from you in our Takoma Park diningroom. Very funny stuff. I don't have a scanner, but will try to get copies and send them to you sometime soon. Folks, imagine a banjo made by Art from a bedpan. It really happened--and, Cathy being Cathy, the "instrument" immediately got played, and the moment captured on film. Cheers, Kathy |

Subject: RE: Art Thieme back on line...Nov. 11, 04 From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 14 Nov 04 - 02:51 PM Kathy, My favorite shot is up on the wall right in front of me. C.F. took it. It's Mr. Pete Seeger playing that PANJO sitting at their dining room table. I love it! Wendy, (I assume)----I think I ran out of film. Art |
