I have a Samson acoustic Yuval guitar, F-014, from 1976. It's the envy of everyone whenever I break it out. This is the only site that I've ever found with any information on my axe. Thanks!

My father bought my mother a Samson guitar back when they were first married in the late '70s for about $300 from, who my mother believes was, Sam Ash. It has since been given to me and holds great sentimental value.
It's still a fantastic instrument with a deep, rich sound, comparable to a Martin in my opinion. Any more information anyone could share about the instrument and its current value would be great. I'm, at the moment, trying to get some work done on the guitar as it has suffered some wear and tear during it's thirty, some odd, years of existence.
This seems to be the most comprehensive thread available about these guitars that I've seen.

Yuval guitars were distributed in the UK in the 70s by Frank's Merchandising hence the name Franconia. I believe this company still exist somewhere in England but have lost track of them. Someone there may remember, if they can be tracked down.

One more thing about the "cheap guitars" stuff: I haven't seen ANY cheap Framus guitars. They might not be the Top-Notch (but they do have some totally OWNING models) but they are far away from cheat (talking about accoustic guitars, not electric). They produced some cheap models here and there, but even those were better then most mid-range gits.

I read about that Framus / Franconia story but - no offence - I somehow doubt that. Why? I got quite some Framus guitars from 1958 and before. Archtops, Bowlbacks, Prlors, whatever. If I understand you right, you are saying Framus was calles Franconia Mus... in that age. But all my Framus guitars from before 1960 are already labeled Framus. How does this fit in your story? Am I missunderstanding? Also I don't see much similarities between my Framus guitars and the Franconia I guitars I saw so far.

Any more hints?

hi there, i have just bought in a franconia guitar, which is a classical. as i am a professional musician i am always interested to find out where each new guitar i pick up comes from. the lable on this guitar reads frank merchandise london, under the franconia brand, but made in japan. this instrument is a spruce hard top with mahogany body, and it is very very rich in it's tone. it also has a very nic bow back to it. the bridge needs reducing a little, but apart from that even with it's old strings, it sounds very good indeed.

my question is, is this guitar i have, being japanese, a warwick framus outsourced to japan, or another animal all together?

'no worry about the value of any guitar, as it is only worth what it sounds like when played'......

Franconia Bass Guitars, ( Looks like a standard Fender Jazz Bass)

Those that own one of these basses, do not disregard it as a cheap Fender copy. I have seen them over the years going cheap cheap on Ebay. I to own one of these basses and If memory serves well, I bought it in 1988/89 ish, 2nd hand from a guy who needed a bit of cash. In short, I have gigged this bass ever since, and still do to this day. I have had many comments over the years on how well it sounds, the richness, the punch, the growl. I play only by fingers, never by pick. Strings are RotoSound Roundwound RS66LD, 45 - 105. Bass head is an old Trace Elliot, and the cab is a Peavey Black Widow but with the speaker replaced with an equivellent wattage Eminence.
History: Like many I also have looked into the history behind this bass. From what I have learned, The name 'Franconia' comes from the musical instrument makers from the Bovarian forrest region of Germany called 'Framus'. Framus stands for, 'Franconia Musical Instruments'. The company was formed in 1946, but went bust in 1975. the original owner has since passed away, however his son restarted the 'Framus' company with help from Warwick Guitar company, and now I believe Framus instruments are traded under the Warick name. As previously said, don't disregard these guitars, what you have in your hands is a piece of age old Bovarian Forrest, and set up properly, the action, the bridge, the volume and tone control will serve you well for many a year.

I have a Franconia Jumbo Acoustic, model AW4, the label inside says it was made in Korea.
I paid about £50 for it brand new from a music shop almost twenty years ago.

I have a franconia BASS guitar!!! I've had it 30 years! always thought of it as just a cheap fender jazz bass copy, it has a sticker on the back which reads WO.20781 but I know nothing else about it. Anyone got any ideas

I have just recently got my hands on a yuval guitar. Im trying to get a price on how much it is worth. The model is f-004. I have been playing guitar for around 5 years and never heard of this guitar. all it says is it was made in 1977 in isreal. theres a picture of a sun with a face on the front bottom of the guitar. help me please i want an estimate

For the Yuval guitar inquiry I believe the luthier (or inspector) As I am not certain of the quantity output of the company would be Jack Habedeck which is signed handmade in my guitar also. I believe the one in my posession is an F 103 model. Excellent tone,bound both sides as well as up the neck and headstock. The one I am using now appears to be Sapele solid wood body and neck. With a solid spruce top.

I have a Yuval guitar. My father bought 2 of these guitars years ago and gave me the one I have. It has a very high quality sound, and is admired by many musicians. I have never seen another Yuval guitar. The sticker on the inside of the guitar is hard to read but it looks like a F011 model and a # 39 of 135. It's signed by Jack Habodock.
I would like to have more information on this guitar.

I used to live in Kibbutz gadot at the time, and have friends and relatives that live there still.
Some of those (friends and relatives) used to work in Yuval guitar factory.

I acquired a classic Franconia guitar in the 70's but know nothing about the maker or the instrument. On the label inside the sound box it states it was hand built in Israel at the Kibbutz Gadot by Yuval Musical Instruments Ltd (which doesn't appear to exist any longer). The Kibbutz Gadot is still operating but I can't get any response to my enquiries - I suspect guitars are just not made there any more.

If you can give me any leads I'd be very grateful. I have pics if anyone wants to see the guitar.
