A spin off from the 'musicians you wish you'd seen live' thread.

For a start.

Melanie Safka
Art Thieme
Kendall
Jerry Rasmussen

I know I'll think of loads more as soon as I hit the submit button.

THERE'S A GUY WORKS DOWN THE CHIP SHOP SWEARS HE'S ELVIS

Oh darling why you talk so fast

Another evening just flew past tonight

And now the daybreak's coming in

And I can't wait and it aint right

You told me all you've done and seen

And all the places you have been without me

Well I don't really want to know

But I'll stay quiet and then I'll go

And you won't have no cause to think about me

Theres a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis

Just like you swore to me that you'd be true

Theres a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis

But he's a liar and I'm not sure about you

Oh darling you're so popular

You were the best thing new in Hicksville

With your mohair suits and foreign shoes

News is you changed your pick-up for a Stockville

And now I'm lying here alone

And your out there on the phone with some star in New York

I can hear you laughing now

And can't help feeling that somehow

You don't mean anything you say at all

Kirsty MacColl

I'd like to see the last three on Bert's list. Most of all I'd like to see Bill Boazman playing his own songs again. I really am quite baffled as to why so many songs are overpraised while his remain unknown.

Hey, Bert:

Talk about great minds running in circles (is that the way it goes?) We've got two threads going on the same topic (which is fine.)

Thanks for your mention of my name.

I'm proud to say that I've had the great pleasure of hearing Bert. Just would be great to hear him again..

Jerry

Earl Scruggs. He was supposed to play Toronto this past summer as part of a festival, but the festival was cancelled.

Linda Rondstadt, Pete St. John (does he sing or just write?), April Verch, Gordon Quinton (cheating because I used to see him all the time) Natalie MacMaster, Kenneth MacKeller, Anne Byrne, Mary Black, some Gypsy fiddlers, Myron Floren, a huge Welsh male chorus..oh that is enough. mg
