Subject: info on Indian Creek Delta Boys From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 23 Nov 04 - 12:57 PM I loved this great old-timey band from S.-Central Illinois some years ago. I know where fine fiddler Chirps Smith and fretless banjo frailer Dave Landreth are now, but is Gary Harrison and the band still doing it?? They had a rare S. Illinois and Indiana repertoir. Subject: RE: info on Indian Creek Delta Boys From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 23 Nov 04 - 03:19 PM I heard Tom Paley discussing this group with a couple of fiddle and banjo pickers less than 48 hours ago. Guess you guys are on the same wavelength. |

Subject: RE: info on Indian Creek Delta Boys From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 23 Nov 04 - 03:48 PM Strange---I was just e-mailing back and forth with Tom about the time he spent working in a duo with Woody Guthrie. Ed Cray talks about that in his new very fine biography of Woody. (Better than Joe Klein's---but maybe just different.) I thought it was fascinating and also just plain cool as all hell that they worked together. Tom pretty much said it was a unique time. I think I'll ask him if he minds if I post his answer to my query. That'd warrant a new thread if it's o.k. with him. Art Thieme |
