we use to make up silly,crazy,etc.,songs as we sat in the back seat of dad's '41, 4 door, chevrolet on a trip to the mountains,grandma's or wherever! some of the songs were made up in response to something that we had just seen on the highway,by the side of the road or up in the sky! one i particularly remember was kinda gross,but here it is anyway...."did you ever think when a herse went by,that you may be the next to die! they wrap up up in a big white sheet and drop you down about 40 feet! the worms crawl in the worms crwl out and play peanuckle on your spout! you stomach turns to a slimey green and big white pulse runs out in streams! you put it on a piece of bread and that's what you eat when you are dead"!.....and,of course we always sang the old gospel songs too(because dad said we Should!) so we made this one up from an old church song!   "on a hill faraway,stood an old chevrolet and it won't run no more to suit me!   but i'll go there again and make it of tin, and then it will run again!   oh that old chevrolet was a good chevrolet until one day it ran away...and that's how the darn thing runs"!!!!...anyway,that's how we helped pass the time away riding down the road in the late 40's and early 50's!!!can't wait to read some of yours in here!
