Subject: Need lyrics for From: JoAnna Berry (JoJim4373@aol.com) Date: 18 Nov 98 - 03:31 PM Hello, This is a shot in the dark. I am new to Scottish music. I am looking for the lyrics in gealic or english to the slow air call "Lady to her husband who was killed at the battle of culloden" AKA "Mo run geal og." The tune was found in the Fraser and McDonald collections. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mo Run Geal Og From: Jim Dixon Date: 10 Apr 05 - 11:54 PM Is this the same song that is posted under the title CUMHA DO DH'UILLEAM SOISAL? The last line of that song is "Mo run geal og." |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mo Run Geal Og From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 11 Apr 05 - 02:03 AM That is two verses of the song, which typically runs to eleven. The title quoted (not the usual one) is a reference to the story that the song was written by Christina Fergusson of Ross-shire in memory of her husband William Chisholm, apparently standard-bearer for the contingent of Chisholms that fought at Culloden. |
