This message is primarily to M.Ted due to the post made on Cinco De Mayo play lists that you made over 2 years ago I believe. You stated that you like to listen to noche de ronde which is the reason that you are the only worthwhile result found in the many search engines I have tried to use.

Ok, so I guess I will explain the post first and then give my request. I am a college student in Arizona, in the US. I have been taking a dance class with my g/f and have gotten into it due to the fact that I am the only male there and am now the lead role in a Christmas dance. My dance teacher gave me a master tape of a cha cha that was of terrible quality seemingly do to years of past use from past Christmas plays. So I decided to get a copy of the song because the low quality of the song is more than easy to hear on a regular stereo, let alone the school's auditorium sound system. Since I had heard the song in the past and figured that it would be quite an easy song to find I thought it would be easy to get a higher quality copy for the performance. I was very wrong in my prediction and spent more than a couple weeks downloading hundreds of cha cha's and could never find the one I was looking for.

I decided to take a different approach and recorded the tape onto my computer in mp3 format and put it on an international ballroomdance forum to see if anyone could help me identify the unknown cha cha. Still for almost a week I kept getting posts saying "never heard of it" or "heard of it but don't know what it is called".

Yesterday someone finally posted on that forum that the song that I had been looking for is noche de ronde, which gave me somewhere to start. So I've been searching the web for a copy of the song or possibly a hint as to where to get one but nothing solid enough to go with. On the last of the search engine links was a link to that post you made over 2 years ago, so I checked your post history and made sure that you were still posting here and finally I have a hope.

Now my request; could you possibly make me a copy of the song and e-mail it to me, or if that is somehow unacceptable maybe point me in the right direction of where I could possibly get it? I was told on the ballroomdancing forum that there are a few versions of it but I am hoping that all this searching eventually pays off.

As for my e-mail, you can contact me at drabaz@hotmail.com

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide and in case you'd like, here is the link to the mp3 file of the tape that I recorded. http://www.riverkitty.com/ChaCha.mp3

Well--here I am! Firstly, the song is Noche de Ronda, not Ronde, which is probably why you had trouble finding it. Secondly, it is really a Mexican cancione, so it is generally performed on guitars or with an accordian, the verse being done rubato, the major melody being done in that Mariachi-like 3/4 time that they have--

I don't know the cha-cha version that you are using, but do know of a mambo/salsa version by Orlando Contreras and Daniel Santos on their album, Los Jefes--a cha-cha is basically a version of the mambo which is pretty much salsa, anyway--Good luck with your dance!

There's a MIDI at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6878/Nronda.mid. Is this the right one MTED. Not as good as an MP# but may help.

Regards, John

PS Nat King Cole also performed it.

Lyr. Add: NOCHE DE RONDA
Author: Maria Teresa (Augustine) Lara Aguirre

Noche de ronda, que triste pasas
que triste cruzas por mi balcón.
Noche de ronda, como me hieres
como lastimas mi corazón.

Luna que se quiebra
sobre la tiniabla de mi soledad
? a donde vas?
Dime siesta noche
