Subject: I,ll never get over those blue eyes From: Dennis the Elder Date: 07 Dec 04 - 05:44 PM Trying to get the words for the above, or ever who recorded it, probably many people , not sure if this is the title or just the main line, help is requested Dennis |
Subject: RE: I,ll never get over those blue eyes From: GUEST,Nancy King at work Date: 07 Dec 04 - 06:02 PM Perhaps the one you're looking for is "I Still Miss Someone," by Johnny Cash, the chorus (or bridge) of which goes: No, I never got over those blue eyes, I see them everywhere. I miss those arms that held me When all the love was there. Not Cash's best effort, IMHO. I always thought the tune was kid of tedious, but the song has been recorded by several folks in addition to Cash himself, including Jimmy Buffett. Hope this helps, Nancy |
Subject: RE: I,ll never get over those blue eyes From: GUEST,MCP Date: 07 Dec 04 - 06:19 PM There are (at least) 4 threads discussing the song : Blue Eyes, Lyr Req: I'll never get over those blue eyes , Help: I still miss someone , Lyr Req: I Still Miss Someone . The words are there, but you might have to hunt for them a bit, so you might like to pick them up from I Still Miss Someone at Toptown (linked in one of the threads). Mick |

Subject: RE: I'll never get over those blue eyes From: GUEST,Champagne Carole's Secret Santa Date: 08 Dec 04 - 07:38 AM Nice recording of 'I still miss someone' on the Tribute CD..KINDRED SPIRITS. It's a song I love to sing myself. The version on KINDRED SPIRITS is sung by Cash's daughter, Roseanne w/nice harmonies by Vince Gill. Lovely. Really lovely. I believe she also sang this at his memorial service. I should send Champagne Carole the mix tape I have this song on, seeing as she has few tapes to play in her car. |
Subject: RE: I'll never get over those blue eyes From: harpgirl Date: 08 Dec 04 - 08:19 AM Ron Wall taught me his version in Mountain View a few years back. I like the song and he does it beautifully on the autoharp. |
Subject: RE: I'll never get over those blue eyes From: GUEST,Jim Date: 08 Dec 04 - 08:24 AM "Kind of tedious" "Not Cash's best effort" I think it's a good song - played and sung at the right tempo and with a suitable level of feeling. 1st sang it about 20 years ago; still singing it, and it's still well received. |
Subject: RE: I'll never get over those blue eyes From: GUEST,Chamapagne Carole's SS Date: 08 Dec 04 - 08:29 AM Kind of tedious! Harrumph...it's a perfect song for a woman to sing! A wonderful addition to any Mezzo's repertoire. When you take out the clackity-clack rhythm cash is so known for and draw it out more lyrically, it's a stunner of a song! Audiences always love it. A nice harmoniser makes it all the more lovely. Perhaps it's an American thing. We like our maudlin love songs about love lost. Chamapagne Carole's SS Who really must be going now. Presents to wrap, hints to drop...all that rot. (did you catch the hint Cller, Carole? There's one in here. Now WHO has talked about harmonies before....hmmmmmm) |
