One of the little feral cats that share our roof and board and don't reciprocate a damned thing is named Banjo, heartless little bitch.

(Her sister's name is Creamsicle.)

Courtesy of my son, here are pictures of Willie and Waylon, and both boys together.

The last also includes the bottom of the bass, the bottom of one of many guitar cases, and the autoharp case under the couch. Our house consists mostly of cats, instruments, and books.

ok.. so this is a bit off topic, but I got to wondering if anyone has named their children after songs, musicians, or music related things?
hmm..
girl that I am, I am always pondering what my childrens names are going to be, and I always fantasize about Sally and Nancy.. (after the shanty lore characters) but those might just end up nicknames, cause there is no saying which will be which. It would be a catastrophe to guess wrong.

And I know a cat named Sarafina, (spelling?) after the chanty character.

yup. We named our youngest daughter Ceilidh. Initially we were going to spell it Ceili, but my brother insisted if we were going to give her a Gaelic word as a name, we could at least spell it correctly. It was not a wise idea. She hated it when she was in school, as nobody could pronounce it correctly and the only other animate creature she ever met with the same name was a collie. She is quite taken with her name as an adult, but it caused her a lot of discomfort as a kid.

Our Corgis are both named after fiddle tunes...the red male is Gillie...paper/registered name is Little Beggarman, of which Gilderoy is the Anglecized Gaelic, and the call name is short for that. The little sable female is Ragtime Annie.

I named my first cat Hendrix, after Jimi. He was the gentleman of long-haired black cats. Got him trained to not run out the door, when I came in with armloads of instruments. My current cat is named Worf, after the Star Trek Next Generation character. My sig-o had a cat named Rockefeller, after the song Pete Seeger sang, not John D.

a friend of mine has a cat named Hammer Pants, after MC Hammer.
Ive never seen this cat.. but apparently it has interesting fur masses around its legs..

My tortie cat with attitude (Hollowfox's kids called her the hiss machine>) is named Musetta from Puccini's La Boheme. It suits her very well. She STILL isn't speaking to me since the move.
The new kitten is named Grace O'Malley, and there are I think several songs about the original pirate. Her name is also appropriate.
Now, my mother new a woman named Aida Amneris.

At my previous place of employment, the resident cats were also Willie and Waylon (ours were orange tabbies). One of the other vet techs adopted a kitten that was abandoned with us and named him Jerry Jeff to continue the tradition.

My dog wears hammer pants (American Eskimo dog with extremely fluffy "britches").

I used to have a lovely dog named Kiri Te Kuri, similar to singer Kiri Te Kanawa. (Kuri is the Maori word for dog.)
I also had a cat named Tibby, like Tibby Dunbar in another thread. That was about 20 years back.
My newest cat is called Twiggy - because she was very skinny when I got her.

We got a cat from the local pets home back in January and we re-named him Dylan. He was a bit scrawny when we got him and he's gained a bit of weight, so we call him Blob. You should see his face - I swear he understands!

We had a cat named Banjo for his lap sitting tendencies (Banjo on my knee). Unfortunately he lacked critical key cat skills, like using a litter box instead of the living room carpet, and how to kill the mice he brought into the house, so it was not quite a tragedy when he misjudged the speed of an oncoming car one day. Current cats are Pansy, which I hate, but it fits her in all ways, and Friday the Boss-cat. Six pounds of pure chutzpah -- she keeps the Rottweilers in line.

A niece had a cat named Amedeus; at the time the young lady's favorite music was Mozart and Michael Jackson; that was a few years ago; she (the neice) is an M.D. now.
