I lived in Shrewsbury for most of my life but only discovered folk music when I moved to Beverley. I'll be around for 10 days or so over Christmas and I'd love to play some fiddle and meet some Shropshire musicians/singers.

I've done some research and come up with the following venues:

Charlton Arms, Ludlow, 3rd Fri of the mth.
Red Lion, Market Drayton, Thurs
Buffalo/White Horse Clun, (when?)
Miners Arms, Priest Weston, 1st Wed (discovered this at Easter - wow!)
6 Bells Bishop's Castle (When?
Loggerheads, Shrewsbury (when?)
Globe, Coleham (when?)
Swan, Frankwell (when?)
Coalbrookdale Inn, Ironbridge, 3rd Sun of mth.

I'd be really grateful if those of you in the know could fill in the blanks, and let me know if there is still music at these places. Details of new sessions and christmas one-offs would be good too!

Best wishes,

Richard.

6 Bells is 2nd Sunday, The Royal Hill is 2nd Friday, Loggerheads is every Sunday I think and we have our annual freebie caelidh at Hope Village Hall on Jan 1st. You'll be very welcome, specially if you bring a raffle prize!

And if you're around this Saturday, 18th, there's the local folk community's annual charity busk in the Charles Darwin Centre, Shrewsbury, from 10.00.

No, not much going on, we're a miserable bunch!

Thank you Trevor. Its great to have an up-to-date list of what's going on. Hopefully, I'll see you at one of the sessions.

Schantieman, which road is the Breidden Arms on?

Thanks for your help,

Richard.

It's on the Shrewsbury to Welshpool road. Welshpool end in a place called Middletown. It's run by Chris (Yorkie) Bartram and will there'll be a lots of well known faces there. It really is well worth the trundle. Starts early evening. Arrive early seating is limited.

Sal
