I am sure many dancers have danced the currently popular version of the Queen of Sheba. As most would know this is derived from an old Playford dance but has been re-choreographed and set to "The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" rather than the less interesting original tune.

A friend of mine believes that this version originated at Sidmouth in the late 1980s, however I remember dancing a version of the Queen of Sheba to both the original tune and the "Arrival" in Leeds with the Phoenix in the late 1960s, early 1970s.

Does anyone have any insights?
