Subject: Who sang Jeremiah Johnson From: John K. Date: 21 Nov 98 - 10:35 AM Can anyone help me locate the name of the artist who sang the song Jeremiah Johnson in the movie of the same name? As well I would like the sound track of that movie if possible? Thanks John |
Subject: RE: Who sang Jeremiah Johnson From: Cluin Date: 26 Dec 06 - 11:53 PM Music for the film was composed by Tim McIntire & John Rubinstein. Don't know for certain who did the actual singing, but I'm 99% sure it was Tim McIntyre (1944-1986), who was a singer/songwriter and also an actor (played Alan Freed in "American Hot Wax") who did lots of voice work (including the voice of the dog in "A Boy and his Dog"). Makes sense he would perform his own compositions for the movie. Both his parents were actors as well: John McIntyre of "Wagon Train" and Jeannette Nolan who did lots of characters on TV. Soundtrack LP: Warner Bros. BS 2902 Soundtrack info available here. I know it's been a few years since this request went out, but this film has always been a favourite of mine and I've loved the soundtrack since I first saw the film as a kid when my uncle took me and my cousin to see it. It was the first DVD I bought when I finally got a player. I'd LOVE to get a copy of this soundtrack as well. It's pretty hard to find. I doubt it ever made it to CD reissue. If I ever came across an old LP, I'd snap it up and make a CD transfer for sure. Anyway, the reason I did a Mudcat search for a thread on this movie is I came across a bit of trivia on it. One of the children of Qualen the settler that Johnson found hiding in the root cellar from the Crow Indians (you only see them for a couple of seconds) was an uncredited young Tanya Tucker. Try and get that bit of useless trivia out of your grey matter now. |

Subject: Lyr Add: JEREMIAH JOHNSON From: GUEST,Cyndi Jenkins Date: 21 May 10 - 10:06 AM Seems to be a lot of requests for the lyrics on the Net but none are actually posted. Maybe this will help. I hope all of the words are correct. I am actually learning to play this on the banjo Jeremiah Johnson Soundtrack (Lyrics) Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains Bettin' on forgettin' all the troubles that he knew The trial was wide and narrow The eagle or the sparrow Showed the path he was to follow as it flew A mountain mans a lonely man and he leaves a lot behind He ought to have been different but you often times will find That the story doesn't always go the way you had in mind Jeremiah's story was that kind Jeremiah's story was that kind An Indian says you search in vain For what you cannot find He says you've found a thousand ways Of runnin' down your time An Indian didn't scream it He said it in a song And he's never been known to be wrong He's never been known to be wrong The way that you wander Is the way that you choose The day that you tally Is the day that you lose Sunshine or thunder A man will always wonder where The fair wind blows Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains He was bettin' on forgettin' All the troubles that he knew |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Jeremiah Johnson (ballad from film) From: GUEST,Cluin Date: 12 Sep 10 - 06:40 PM A couple of minor corrections on the lyrics above: "It ought to have been different but you often times will find" (from a line in the movie script) "The day that you tarry is the day that you lose" This soundtrack is long out of print but, if you do the bit-torrent thing, it can be downloaded as part of this torrent of Hard-to-Find Movie soundtracks (Pre-1990s): http://isohunt.com/download/100229013/%22hard+to+get+movie+soundtracks%22.torrent |
