Subject: Tune Req: Looking for old country song
From: GUEST,Karla
Date: 20 Dec 04 - 11:38 AM

I'm trying to find an old country song that I use to sing to my son when he was a baby.
Don't remember the artist or name of song but here are some of the lyrics. I would REALLY APPRECIATE finding it.
I'm not sure all the lyrics are exact.

"Lets make a fair trade, your heart for mine.
I'll trade you my heart any old time.
Here's a brand new heart offer to you
keep it forever (diamonds are true)???

All the gold in the wide world could not interest me
as long as we could make a deal, me for you and you for me
I'll be your slave till the end of all time
lets make a fair trade your heart for mine.

Thank you

Bill Gordon sang it. I think Bob King's recording is available.
"Let's Make a Fair Trade" listed at several download sites, but couldn't find lyrics on line.

HELLO, I WAS ONLINE TRYING TO RESEARCH ON THE SONGS THAT MY MOTHER RUBY DAVIS HAD WRITTEN AND SANG. SHE WAS ON HEE HAW AND HAD SANG A FEW SONGS FROM HER OWN LYRICS. SHE PASSED AWAY IN 74 BUT LETS MAKE A FAIR TRADE IS ONE OF HER SONGS SHE SANG.

Repertoire.BMI.com says LET'S MAKE A FAIR TRADE was written by Jack Swanson, and published by San-Lyn Music Publications.

The May 19, 1956 issue of Billboard says:

"Let's Make a Fair Trade," penned by Jack Swanson, has just been released on the M-G-M label by Mr. and Mrs. Sunshine (Jane and Carl) ... on the RCA Victor label by Bob King, and on the BSD label by Tommy Tomkin. San-Lyn Music is the publisher.
