Paul Curran one of the managers of the Blarney Stone in Shanghai (and a pro singer too) is trying to do some research on the US civil war battle at Shiloh.

Of particular interest to him are the songs that would have been sung by the Yankee's and the Confederate sides and what instruments would have been used to play the songs.

Can anyone help?

Though written at some point after the battle, one of the greatest of all genuine Civil War songs is "The Battle of Shiloh's Hill." One text (with a midi) is at

Another, rather different (also with a midi)is in the DT.

If you're of a literary turn, Herman melville, author of "Moby Dick," wrote a well-known poem called "Shiloh." It contains the memorable question, "What like a bullet can undeceive?"
