Hello, I am starting my new CD and I'd like to include "I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago". Carl Sandburg's Songbag has the words and the melody but it doesn't say anything about where it's from. I sand this song back in the late fifties and I always liked its swaggering chutzpah and papar thin lies. I'm pretty sure that Oscar Brand sang it in live performance. He may have recorded it. God knows, he recorded everything else.
I'm also planning on including "Way Out West in Kansas", about which I know even less than the other one. Ha, some folksinger I am.

Basic info there. Vernon Dalhart recorded it in 1925. The 1924 recording by Murray and Smalle was first.

I searched for "Ten Thousand" and "Peter Paul and Moses," and didn't turn up a single thread. Good thing Q was astute enough to think of searching for "10,000." You'll find lots of versions of the song in the other thread. In fact, before we get too far into splitting things up, how about it we move the discussion over there where it began, and close this thread? Hope you don't mind, Mike.
