Subject: How's this for 'Christmas Spirit'? :-)

Good to see the Cat come Back! I just wanted to share this little "Christmas Spirit Story"

Two days before Xmas the first blizzard of the season blew in here in the Great White North (Ontario Canada). My 90' laneway was buried almost 2 feet deep in heavy wet snow. The local 'plow guy' was also buried in work, and the emergency calls took priority of course. So I'd been quite content to practice guitar and catch up on my reading for a day or so while I waited for him. But by Friday I was desperate .... I had family due to arrive that afternoon and I just HAD to get out somehow to get groceries and finish the holiday preparations.

So at 7 am Xmas Eve I'd done some most fervent "praying", asking for energy so that I could plow that laneway out by hand without killing myself. (I've "killed myself" a few times before doing the whole thing myself). As I prayed, I pictured myself looking over my perfectly plowed driveway, shovel in hand, smiling and happy and just bursting with energy and physical health. Then I donned my woollies, dug out the trusty ole snow scoop and started labouring.

Took half an hour just to dig out a footpath from the garage to the road. I was battling the last dreaded 6 feet at the end of the driveway - where it's twice as deep and filthy with the heavy salt and sand from the snowplows - when I could feel my muscles turning to jelly and my energy at it's last gasp. I figured - just one more scoop and I'll go back to the house for a hot drink and a break. I knew the job would take at least another hour and a half to finish ...

Well, I was dumping out that last scoopful when this little white Bobcat scuttled over from across the street. The driver waved me over to a safe distance, and in 5 minutes the whole laneway - including that last dreaded 6' of the horrible stuff the plow leaves behind - was FINISHED! HA!! He absolutely refused my offer to pay him, and had a good chuckle when I told him how much I loved his halo and wings   :-)

As he puttered off in the wake of the storm I collapsed laughing into the snowbank, my trusty snow scoop still in hand, looking over my perfectly plowed laneway thinking - so THAT'S how it works! Rather than transform me temporarily into Hulk Hogan armed with a snow scoop   ;-)   the Powers That Be opted for the easy way out and sent a human-Angel-with-Bobcat over to dig me out instead!

And it's so very wonderful to watch how in spite of the commercialism and inevitable holiday stresses, the 'Christmas Spirit' can sure bring out the very best in people.

Thanks for listening and the Best of the Season to all,

daylia
