Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: michaelr Date: 05 Mar 11 - 12:10 AM Ebbie, I have a CD that came bundled with (I think) Acoustic Guitar Magazine that showcases a number of guitarists (including the great Phil Keaggy) playing McPhersons, and they all sound awesome. Not that that proves they're awesome guitars. But they sure are expensive. |

Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: Ebbie Date: 27 Dec 04 - 07:36 PM Wow. You guys are great. Wes, I believe it was probably a McPherson rather than a Tacoma. I don't remember the soundhole being up that far on the shoulder. What struck me was how close it was to the edge of the belly. Striking. Made me wonder about its tone. Has either of you heard one? |
Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: DonMeixner Date: 27 Dec 04 - 06:17 PM Wes, I've played a papoose several times. I think it is way to lightly built for much of anything but parlor playing. I'd find a Taylor 213. Don |
Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: Wesley S Date: 27 Dec 04 - 05:01 PM I'm kinda interested in those Papoose's myself. It's really tempting as a travel guitar. I haven't seen Vince Gill endorse either brand myself but if you've seen him in a Tacoma ad then that's probably the one. |
Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Dec 04 - 04:37 PM Yeah Wes, and I might guess Tacoma first. He's been used in an ad or two for the company. Click here for Tacoma (go to WING SERIES) Spaw |
Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: Wesley S Date: 27 Dec 04 - 04:10 PM Ebbie - Did it look like one of these ? Mc Pherson Guitars |
Subject: RE: What Kind of Guitar? From: Wesley S Date: 27 Dec 04 - 03:50 PM I'm going to guess a Tacoma or a McPherson { ? } just going from your description. I didn't see it myself but both makers have been popular in Nashville. |
Subject: What Kind of Guitar? From: Ebbie Date: 27 Dec 04 - 03:40 PM Last night I saw part of a Vince Gill special. In one of the segments he played an acoustic jumbo-sized, cutaway guitar with the soundhole close to the up side (the upper bout?) What kind? I presume it was made for him, but who would be the maker? |
