Much more available through Google, for those especially interested.

Legendary country, rock and jazz guitarist Hank Garland, who performed with Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline, Charlie Parker and many others, has died at the age of 74. Garland died of a staph infection Monday at Orange Park Medical Center, said his brother, Billy Garland. In the 1950s and ' 60s, Walter "Hank" Garland was the talk of Nashville, known for musical riffs that could take a recording from humdrum to dazzling, as he did on Elvis hits like "Little Sister" and "Big Hunk of Love." He had his first million-selling hit at 19 with "Sugar Foot Rag," a famous country tune. "He is heralded as a quintessential Nashville studio guitarist," musician Wolf Marshall said in an e-mail interview earlier this year.

Sad to hear about his passing. He played behind a whos who of rock legends and played some terrifically influencial breaks and rythm patterns. I heard he was in a car accident in the early 60s and was unable to play due to a serious hand injury and Tiny Timbrell took up his guitar duties for Elvis etc. Maybe somebody knows a bit more about this? I am always keen to hear of what the session musicians of the 50s and 60s are up to now. Charlie McCoy, Tommy Tedesco, Carole Kaye, Hal Blaine, Bob Moore, Reggie Young, Pete Drake and so on.Any details much appreciated.Deepest Sympathies to Hanks family and friends.

Keep On Rockin'

Sidewinder.

Dale - can this be true, that Hank Garland played with Charlie Parker?
I'm fascinated, any more info? And yes, Hank was a wonderful, wonderful musician.

Had the automobile accident pretty much ended Garland's career in the early 1960's, he would certainly have been much better known. He was almost legendary when he was in his prime. One of the stories about Garland after the accident was that session guitarists in Nashville would take turns signing his name after recording sessions so that he would continue to receive some income.
