I'll be in Australia from 23rd Jan to 4th March, mainly around Sydney but touring also. Are there any folk events I should try to attend? Any advice would be appreciated.

Depends where you are touring to - it's a big country - Brisbane is 24 hours away by surface transport from Sydney...

G'day Guest,

It also depends on what you want to do / see / hear ...

This is the local (New South Wales, of which Sydney is capital) Folk Federation site:
href="http://www.newsouthfolk.com.au/">NSW Folk Federation.

That site should give a useful variety of other links ... and there is a new interactive NSWFF site in trial ... which will be much more pitched to the individual / local / specific event end of things, but that's not yet open.

If you let us know the sort of thing you're after ... we might be able to point up some specific events / links.

Regards,

Bob

G'dang ...

The one time I don't pre-test ... it doesn't work!

Here's another try at the "blue clickie": NSW Folk Fed

(Seems to work ... now ... )

Regard(les)s,

Bob

G'day again Guest,

I might as well drop in a "blue clicky" for that 'do-it-yourself' Folk Federation of NSW site:

JAM - NSW do-it-yourself Folk Site

It's only just being beaten into shape ... but it provides quite a useful alternative to the top-heavy structure of the "Official" site.

Regards,

Bob

G'day Sandra (and Guest),

OK - I'll update my 'favorites' for the Folk Fed site to : NSW Folk Fed.

However, my comparison of sites still holds ... I just flicked through that one (looking at Bush Music Club ... since that's my home territory) and information is sketchy, incomplete and out of date. The new JAM site will shift the responsibility onto those who care about getting out current, correct info ... and the designated editor can go in and update things ... instead of posting off reminders to one overworked site compiler, so it will become the place for accurate and relevant info.

Regards,

Bob
