Hi all.
       Do any of you have any info on the makes of banjo Luke kelly played.I know he had a Merlin banjo and know from album covers he played others.But i cant nail the makes any info would be great.

I have an information that there is one of Luke's banjos in the Rock Museum in Dublin. Perhaps you or a friend of yours could have a look.

I think I saw him at some time playing a Vega longneck (Pete Seeger type).

Yes, Maurice is right. Yesterday I phoned with a personal friend of Luke, he confirmed that Luke played an American VEGA Banjo beside the Merlin one. In another folk chat there is a hint that Luke got a VEGA banjo from Tommy Makem. See: http://makem.com/wwwboard/read.php?f=1&i=389&t=389

I'm guessing that the 'rock museum' referred to is the Irish Music Hall of Fame, which I believe is currently closed.
