Hello! I am a newcomer to the mudcat café, old-timey banjo picker from France. I am looking for the "dream train" lyrics, as sung by RILEY Pucket in 1939. Thanks for your help

Riley Puckett's recording of DREAM TRAIN appears on the album "There's a Hard Time Coming," British Archive of Country Music CD #040.

There's a sound sample at Venerable Music, from which I was able to transcribe this much:

Dream train, please carry me back.
Dream train, stay on the right track.
Take me back where I belong.
Sound your whistle and gong.
Tell the gang it won't be long.
Dream train....

Indiana University Sheet Music Collections has the sheet music, but images are not available online. Their catalog gives this information:

Hello John. Did you forget the "Dream train" lyrics request? If you don't have time to notate those lyrics, is it possible to ask you to scan the page, or do you know where can I get It? Thanks
Manu

DREAM TRAIN appears on the Chet Atkins compilation set, "Galloping Guitar: The Early Years," Bear Family CD #15714, 1994. I don't know the name of the female vocalist who sings this:

Dream train, please carry me back.
Dream train, stay on the right track.
Take me back where I belong.
Sound your whistle and gong.
Tell the gang it won't be long.

Dream train, please turn on your steam
Morning will soon end my dream.
Stop when a sweet old lady hollers:
"Welcome, my dream train."

Cliff Bruner and His Texas Wanderers also sang DREAM TRAIN.

I figure this version is about as close to the original as we're going to get, without seeing the sheet music:

DREAM TRAIN
As sung by Ian Whitcomb on "Red Hot Blue Heaven" (1977)

1. Ev'ry night when I lie down and close my weary eyes
On my train of dreams I go to paradise
Sandman is the engineer when my train pulls away
Ev'ry night he hears me say:

CHORUS: Dream train, please carry me back
Dream, train stay on the right track
Take me back where I belong
Sound your whistle and gong
Tell the gang it won't be long
Dream train please turn on your steam
Morning will soon end my dream
Stop when a sweet old lady hollers
"Welcome, my dream train."

2. I can't wait till moonbeams come and bring the close of day
Cause at night I'm back in days that used to be
On my train of dreams I'll soon be on my merry way
To the only place for me.

CHORUS
