Subject: From Iceland to Portaferry ...... From: skarpi Date: 12 Jan 05 - 03:55 PM Well all it´s only three weeks until we go to Portaferry from Iceland. We are getting ready playing Icelandic songs and get some food to bring along with the wine. It takes lot of time to go over all we need to take with us. We are gonna bring some Instruments with us such as Bodhrán,fiddle, guitar, does anyone who are coming have a pianoaccordian? that we coult get to use ? We are hoping that we can play somewhere along the portaferry ,does anyone know a plays that would take Icelandic folk band to play one night? I hope to tell the travel story on Mudcat all the way from Iceland to N-Ireland and back home . More later .All the best Skarpi Iceland. |

Subject: RE: From Iceland to Portaferry ...... From: mooman Date: 12 Jan 05 - 07:07 PM Dear Skarpi, I'm absolutely sure Greg (Skipjack K8) will be bringing his piano accordion with him. Why not PM him to see if you can have a lend of it? Regarding possible gig places nearby, Kate (Fibula Mattock) would probably be the best one to ask. As we Mudcatters will be filling Portaferry itself, perhaps one of the nearby towns or villages might be possible? I will be bringing a mandolin and guitar myself. Looking forward to meeting you! Peace moo |

Subject: RE: From Iceland to Portaferry ...... From: Fibula Mattock Date: 12 Jan 05 - 07:32 PM Hello skarpi - I'm really looking forward to this. Belfast might be a good place to get a gig. Don't worry - we have somewhere for you to play on the Saturday night in Portaferry! I'll see you, and moo, in 3 weeks! |

Subject: RE: From Iceland to Portaferry ...... From: Skipjack K8 Date: 13 Jan 05 - 05:12 PM Oh Skarpi, you are the limit! Subject: RE: From Iceland to Portaferry ...... From: Fibula Mattock Date: 21 Jan 05 - 04:51 AM Skarpi - on Friday we will meet in the pub, probably Fiddlers Green (it's on the Square in Portaferry and is a very handy spot and a lovely place). 3pm or so is probably a good time to meet people, but I'lll check again to see what time everyone is arriving. I will wear my mudcat t-shirt or my mudcat badge so you know me. My real name is Kate (sometimes Katie) just in case you're trying to find me! On Friday evening we can find somewhere to play. Perhaps we can play in Fiddlers Green at the back of the pub in the Quarterdeck - I don't know yet, but I will ask. Fiddlers Green have their own music every night, and Frank, the owner sings and plays guitar, and people come to listen to him, so we should maybe find another spot, but we'll see! On Saturday we might have an afternoon session (there was a very nice one in McNamaras back room last year), and in the evening we will go to Dumigans and play there and you can feed us! |

From: Kate Date: 26 Jan 05 - 10:10 AM The lovely people at the tourist board sent me a list of places and I've managed to book a room at the Fiddlers Green. Staggering distance is always a bonus! That's the aim. x |
