Subject: RE: Folklore: The Freezer Song ( Timothy McKay) From: GUEST Date: 15 Jan 05 - 08:30 AM Take a look at poor old Timothy McKay Just a bag of bones poor geezer , Sitting in the boozer with a stale pork pie 'Cos his wife has gone and bought a bloody freezer Oh My TimothyMcKay , Once eleven stone now he's a six stone guy Dreaming of a supper with some hot roast beef But its parcelled up in polythene and froxen stiff . Thats the first voice - Surely it must ring a bell with someone ?? |

Subject: RE: Origins: The Freezer Song / Timothy McKay From: Leadfingers Date: 12 Dec 08 - 11:45 AM I STILL dont know where I got this from , but here are the Lyrics as I have them ! Take a look at poor old Timothy Mckay Just a bag of bones , poor geezer Sitting in the boozer with a stale pork pie 'Cos his wife has gone and bought a bloody freezer Oh My Timothy McKay Pain in his belly and a tear in his eye Dreaming of a supper with some hot roast beef But its parcelled up in Polythene and frozen stiff Marilyn McKay has got the freezer craze Nothing short of hundredweights will please her Whole sheep half pigs set her eyes ablaze My God its so much cheaper with a freezer Oh My Timothy McKay Thinking how he'd like to be eating bye and bye He'd settle for a curry and some pilau rice But its buried in the freezer and as cold as ice Timothy is sent to spend his long weekends Picking pounds of berries to appease her Then he begs a scrap or two from sympathetic friends While she's baking fifty tarts to fill the freezer Oh My Timothy McKay Once eleven stone , now he's a six stone guy Chewing on his fingernails , tossing in his sleep Dreaming of the goodies in the ice cold deep Timothy gets desperate and one dark night He takes her by the throat and starts to squeeze her While she's lying senseless on the living room floor He's ripping out the contents of the freezer Oh My Timothy McKay Fat and happy now for he's been eating for a while The neighbours think his wife has gone and left him high and dry But she's lying in the freezer with an ice cold smile |

Subject: RE: Origins: The Freezer Song / Timothy McKay From: Bainbo Date: 15 Dec 08 - 05:09 PM It was written by the (sadly) late Alex Glasgow, the marvellous Tyneside songwriter who also came up with All In A Day and As Soon As This Pub Closes, among many others. It featured in a show he did with the writer Henry Livings, called Northern Drift, which I was lucky enough to see at a Durham Folk Festival many years ago. You may also remember Alex Glasgow's voice, as he performed the Tyneside song Dance To Thi Daddy(/i> as the theme tune to the period Geordie soap opera "When The Boat Comes In," starring James Bolam and Louise Jameson. Why do I remember all this, but I can't remember why I switched the computer on? |
Subject: RE: Origins: The Freezer Song / Timothy McKay From: Leadfingers Date: 15 Dec 08 - 05:57 PM At last I can credit Writer ! All I need to do now is remember who and where I stole the song ! Thanks Bainbo . |
