Subject: RE: Origins: Woman Hold My Hand From: GUEST,Rebecca Date: 18 Jan 05 - 01:50 PM Thanks. I found that article when I googled it before, but it doesn't tell me much. My band are thinking of learning the song, and we'd really like to know who wrote it. If anyone has heard the song or has any other information about it, I'd love to hear it. |
Subject: RE: Origins: Woman Hold My Hand (Sweet Honey) From: Joe Offer Date: 18 Jan 05 - 02:56 PM Well, my home schooling duties call me, so I can't follow up now. I think the actual title of the song is "Mae Frances." If I'm correct, you can find it on two Sweet Honey in the Rock albums, The Other Side and Selections 1976-88. Rebecca, if you have the lyrics, please post them. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Origins: Woman Hold My Hand (Sweet Honey) From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 18 Jan 05 - 04:55 PM Mae Frances is by Bernice Johnson Reagon of Sweet Honey in the Rock. It is a passionate song. My chorus has done it; it's not as easy as it may sound. I can't find the lyrics on line (SWITR are very clear about copyright) and don't have time tonight but will post them later if I can. Meanwhile, you can listen to an excerpt here. Allison |

Subject: RE: Origins: Woman Hold My Hand (Sweet Honey) From: GUEST Date: 01 Jul 14 - 09:00 AM Where do I go when there's no where to turn to Feel all alone wandering why I am Where do I go where I need familiar Woman hold my hand Who do I turn to when my legs get shaky Eyes cloud over, I can't see my way Who let's me know that I'm still walking upright Woman hold my hand Who laughs with me when I'm feeling silly Who skips along dance the whole night away Who smiles with me in my moments of pretty Woman hold my hand Who binds my wounds when I'm bruised and battered By strangers and those daily walking in my life Who lets me know that I'm more than my hurtings Woman hold my hand Who cries with me when I lose my baby By accident, choice, or against my will Who knows that I am a childless mother Woman hold my hand Who bids me sing when my voice is silent Songs have left me for places unheard Who bids me sing when all singing seems useless Woman hold my hand |
