You guys just don't get it. First, there is no such thing as a svelte folkie - nice try Amos but we ain't buying sugar this week. Next, we have no intention of harming you physically - that would be cutting off (sorry...) our noses (or whatever) to spite our faces. Lastly, neither Kendall not Micca will go with you willingly - guys they got it all and know it. Iron bars do not a prison make and there isn't a cellar strong enough to contain an unwilling Captain. Micca would just have to wave his magic crystal and fly away.

There are quislings among you, gentlemen. You can not trust your own to protect you. Bearded Bruce isn't trying to distract us, he is trembling with anticipation at the prospect of twiddling our toes. Kendall sings "I Remember Loving You" and means it! Does it rather well too. Alaska Mike is laughing at you from the position of safety - he longs to see Mick get his.

And what exactly is "his"? You have 8 months to contemplate it. We haven't decided Amos' fate yet. Maybe nothing - the anticipation alone will destroy him.

"All in good time, my pretties. All in good time."

We haven't decided Amos' fate yet.

Hmmm.... not sure I recall volunteering for this executive hierarchy, SInsull, old gel. As for your dismissal of svelte folkies, well, I gotta set the record straight here. I have seen several Folkies who svelte enough to sweat the joint off a ball-cock without a torch. (That's plumber talk). And you know, they were always so pleasant and all, and so well-informed and friendly and fun. So, never having had the honor to meet you, I just assumed you extended that principle and were svelte as well. And I am sure there's quite enough sveltitude to go around Jacqui several times over. Both Micca and the Captain, as you so deftly point out, are volunteers, and they are both reputed to have impeccable taste in wenches.

But Mick, see, you have to be gentle with. He has feelings, ya know... and like you is not someone to piss off gratuitously, no matter how large and dangerous you may believe yourself.

Quislings, now, see, that's a different story. I have never been sold into bondage before, but given the femininity of the other side, I am not sure I would complain very much.

I want it on record that I said nothing about "longing to see Mick get his." If I were able to attend this years Getaway, I would most certainly be on the righteous side of the conflict, i.e. the MALE side. As all knowledgable people know men are smarter, stronger, more generous, faster than speeding locomotives and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

So go ahead ladies, do your worst. The men of the Getaway can easily withstand any onslaught you might devise and rise triumphant at the close of the event. I say these words knowing full well that I will be 4,000 miles away when the s**t hits the fan.

Mike

Oh My !!! Verizon fried my phoneline and it took awhile to jimmy rigg a computer to the second floor line.... but clearly I've been missing out here.   SINS, I'll be calling soon... now last year we had a few misgivings about not wanting to scare Jacqui, but now that we know the REAL Jacqui...boy will this be fun.

Now boys, I don't want to discourage your wonderfully well trained behavior. After all, flowers and chocolate, champagne and love songs are all definately behaviors we encourage the men in our lives to pamper us with as often as possible. (Note to all males reading this remember Monday is Valentines day !)

But Getaway magic involves a separation from the everyday world, and you can probably be guaranteed that the unexpected is the norm. Now, if you would just relax and let us have our way with all and sundery I'm sure everything will work out fabulously.

Eyes gleaming and ideas sparkling.....

It won't work.

Pissed off? Mick? Or me for that matter? I keep reminding you we mean no physical harm. Just plan to have some good natured fun with him when he least expects it. And all tastefully done so as not to make FSGW regret inviting us. Trust me - when you have been "gotten" by Mudcat women, you will laugh the loudest or at least twitter in bashful glee.

I just love the picture of a bashful Big Mick twittering gleefully. Now...how to make old Amos twitter...any thoughts ladies? jacqui? Tinker? Maybe we should have Bearded Bruce massage his feet? Bruce? What do you think?

What do we know about Amos that can be of use to us? Lucky Mick! We have been distracted.

Hmmm....

SINS,this will take a little thought. After all this is going to be my 5th Getaway so we have a little more first hand experience with some of the gentlemen involved. And they, perhaps, are spreading unfair warnings based of their interpretation of those experiences. But we know they are capable of not only taking care of themselves, but seem to keep coming back for more.

Amos now..... may need to do a little research, but he claims to be chocolate deprived...there may be a bit of something there we can work with....

Mike - No Getaway this year? Oh no, how are we going to get our Alaska fix? Granted, I finally got around to learning "Iditarod" and judging from the reaction at this month's Open Sing I did a decent job, and can do so at the Getaway, but it just won't be the same! ;-)

Mike, I started laughing about halfway through your post. Good to hear from you and we will miss you and Tawmmie so much.

Gary's "Iditarod" was very well done and was a great reminder of you as well as a helluva good song.

Tinker, Mmario, I'm glad I don't drink coffee when I read Mudcat or there would have been another coffee-covered screen.

Rita, we're going to spend all our vacation time in England this year, so will miss all you folks at the Getaway. I'm usually too busy in November to travel anywhere also, so we might miss the 2006 event also. But see what you can do to get it moved back to October for 2007, OK?

Gary, don't worry about an Alaska fix. KT and Ebbie are headed your way again this year. And I am proud as punch that you have taken on the "Iditarod" song. Anybody that can sing the Iditarod song can certainly bamboozle a few smart alecky women who think they can get the better of the Getaway men. Teach that song to Big Mick and Amos, sounds like they could use some help.

Best wishes,
Mike

Oh, and I should mention I now have designs on "Little Jim". There's another song about earthquakes that's popular in the filk community that "Little Jim" would make a **perfect** follower for!

Just got back after a weekend at the Rinktum - recruited up a couple more ladies for the number.

Kendall is being SO well behaved, it's amazing what fear of the consequences will do.

Amos - it's no good trying to head Mary off at the pass - don't forget - she is not alone and the sisterhood will beat off any attempts to isolate one our number.

Teresa - we love the boys really, if we didn't we'd igore them, not terrorise them, but tough love is necessary sometimes with the little darlin's.

Great news, Stephen!! One more testosterone laden creature to help us defend from the devious ministrations of these female minstrels. Be especially on the lookout for one Irish woman who looks like she could be a Sullivan, as well as a beautiful, wee lass leading a Captain around by the ear. These are dangerous creatures, something akin to the harpies. They will lead you onto the rocks for certain. There is an old husbands tale out there that says you can protect yourself by wearing a necklace of bon bons around your neck, hanging decent liquor and champagne from the doors and windows, and being able to sing a decent love song, chantey, old time rock and roll, etc. DO NOT BET YOUR LIFE THAT THIS IS THE CASE. It harks back to a time when men were seeking reasons for their natural surrounding women. While science has not given us complete understanding on these complex creatures, it has informed us that we are carrying a full load of aul shite when we act like we get it.

Anyway, bring instruments and a repertoire of good songs and I will sing with you, prior to my execution.

All the best,

Mick

Stephen - banjos are your only salvation. We can buy our own chocolate and champagne, even our own jewelry. And with the proper size batteries, well...But a banjo player complete with drool - SIGH...Why do you think Kendall dusted his off after so many years? It works better than holy water and a crucifix.

Now think hard - do you really want us to abandon our harmless games and go to the Getaway just to sing? Your choice, guys. I will dissuade all the the ladies if that is your wish.

SINS who believes that Mick doth protest too much.

Well I don't know, I'm a little worried about coming on my own now, I mean calling poor Amos chocolate deprived, surely you mean depraved! I think we better form the wagons into a circle, and break out the Remington repeaters boys.

Gentlemen, know that I die happily for all your sins. Please bring copious amounts of the vile, black stuff, as well as several bottles of John Jamesons' very finest Irish whiskey in order that I may be sent off proper and all.

All the best,

Mick

Do I have to be able to PLAY the banjo, or will just bringing one ( or more) give me some protection?

Banjo PLAYERS - you have eight months to learn.

Mick I'm glad that you're resigned to your fate. Just lay back and let it happen.
