Subject: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: Mr Red Date: 19 Jan 05 - 05:04 PM Pete Lister (01363 775695) Rang me tonight and told he and John Lee are resurrecting a simplified version of the Crediton Festival. A fair number of the the usual suspects are going. It seems to be mostly a session/singaround format Based on the Lamb in Silverton. Midway twixt Crediton and Tiverton. The feature of the Saturday night is a musical meal, though the meal is optional. Again the meal is not going to be a feast, I don't have the details but bangers and mash is the level. 4th - 6th March which is mothering Sunday so one might say it is the....... (and you can see me ducking and running already) Mother of all Festivals |

Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: alanww Date: 30 Jan 05 - 06:53 AM Hi Shambles You better ask Pete & John for chapter and verse but, as I understand it, the reason for the change is that the main pub [was it the Ring of Bells?] in Cheriton Fitzpaine changed landlords and the new guy wasn't keen and then he decided to use the barn for something else. Since then they have been looking for another suitable village and have been trying to deal with issues of entertainment licences, insurance and the Performing Rights mafia, etc... "For I am free to go abroad!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: GUEST,The Shambles Date: 30 Jan 05 - 09:16 AM Thanks Alan. That is sad - I suppose I expected it to be something like this - but there was more than the one pub invoved in the village - I thought. Are you suggesting that the Crediton Festival be held in France? Or somewhere abroad that does not place so many official hurdles in our way? |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: Splott Man Date: 31 Jan 05 - 04:10 AM We'll be there with the Mari Lwyd compact touring party. Splott Man and Pat Spoons |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: GUEST,Barbara Date: 13 Feb 05 - 05:42 PM Does anyone know if John and Pete have a website for this one - I heard at Cheltenham FF that they did but google cna't find it. |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: GUEST Date: 14 Feb 05 - 05:00 PM What overnight accomodation is available - don't fancy a tent this early in March! |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: GUEST Date: 14 Feb 05 - 07:39 PM GUEST, Barbara - I don't think they have a website. GUEST - at the last one in 2003 there was indoor camping at the village hall in Cheriton Fitzpaine, and hard standing for campers/caravans. I imagine similar arrangements will be in place this year. But I can't guarantee that. |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: JudeL Date: 01 Mar 05 - 03:36 PM Thought I'd refresh this since it's this coming weekend. BTW Having spoken to Pete he said it's a much scaled down version of their previous events. They have negotiated with a local farmer who has agreed to let people park camper vans on one of his fields and there will be a room at the pub which after the singaround has finished can be used for indoor camping. By the sound of it, space for indoor camping is likely to be limited so if you are thinking of going it would be a good idea to ring him first. |
Subject: RE: Crediton Festival March 4-5 2005 From: Snuffy Date: 01 Mar 05 - 06:57 PM "after the singaround has finished can be used for indoor camping" - so no early nights then! Hope it goes well and you all have a great time. Only sorry that previous commitments mean I can't be with you. |
