With the loss of the Friday session at the Kingston, Cumberland Street some of us, Les, Maggie, Bassic, Janet (Brid Widder) and myself have been bemoaning the lack of a weekend session for singers in Hull.

We have approached Dean, landlord of the Oberon, who has said we are welcome to use his backroom. Initially we are going to have a monthly get-together to test the support. It has been suggested this be on the last Friday of each month starting on Friday 28 January at 8.30pm.

Please come and sing or play. Hope to see you there.

The Oberon is on Queen Street (it was briefly known as the Cask and Cutter). Queen Street is the street south of Lowgate that leads towards the Humber. There's proper beers available from handpumps.

In case you still need directions from furrin parts, travel in on the A63 (Clive Sullivan Way), across the Mytongate non-roundabout onto Castle Street, carry on past the Marina and turn right at the next major road junction with traffic lights. The pub you want is on the left about a hundred of your earth meters away. Open the door of the pub and carry on through the front bar into the back room.

Of course with Bloke's superior beer sniffing abilities, you won't need these directions.

Don't get too excited. They sound great in my opinion but play somewhat flat of D. Last time I took them out in public I had to avoind sharp objects puncturing both the pipe bag and me - we inflate at a similar rate!

What a wonderful do! Thanks to everyone for turning up - 30+ people all playing and singing together! Thanks particularly to Mudcat for bringing us together.

For anyone who wasn't able to come, we are making this a regular session - last Friday in the month will be in the Oberon in Hull.

I've only one small regret - we should have played the 'King of the Fairies' (Oberon - King of the Fairies - geddit?). See you all next time, folks. And thanks again!
