Subject: RE: vin garbutt, heart bypass op From: BusyBee Paul Date: 24 Jan 05 - 04:07 PM My Mum had similar problems just over a year ago and the first op they did was to fit a pacemaker - it could be what they'll do for Vin on Wednesday. A friend had to wait nearly 9 months for his by-pass operation. Anyway, whatever, get well soon Vin, we want to see you back in Gainsborough!. Deirdre |
Subject: RE: vin garbutt, heart bypass op From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 24 Jan 05 - 01:18 PM They seem to do these kind of ops almost as routine these days, but even so it's a worrying time for everyone. Keep us posted on how things go, Betsy, and pass on our best wishes to Vin and Pat and family. Here's a song I wrote about something else, and then I posted it here again last year when a Mudcatter was having heart surgery, because it seemed to fit - and things worked out all right, so I don't think it'll do any harm to stick it in again: Listen to your heart, hear it beating. Down there in the dark, never sleeping. Through lonely times and homely times, and times that are so fleeting, do you dare to listen to your heart? Do you dare to listen to your heart? Can you bear to listen to your heart? You listen to yourself when you listen to your heart. Do you dare to listen to your heart? Listen to your heart, can you bear to? Down there in the dark do you dare to? Through busy times and dizzy times and times when yiou are scared to, O so scared to listen to your heart. Are you scared to listen to your heart? Are you scared to listen to your heart? You listen to yourself when you listen to your heart. Do you dare to listen to your heart? Oh once I wore my heart on my shoulder. Once I played the part of a soldier - but now's no time for foolishness, the time for that is over - can you hear that whisper in your heart? Can you hear that whisper in your heart? Can you hear that whisper in your heart? You listen to yourself when you listen to your heart. Do you dare to listen to your heart? Listen to your heart, what it's saying, down there in the dark, day out and day in, through olden days, and golden days, and days you feel like praying, can you bear to listen to your heart? Can you bear to listen to your heart? Can you bear to listen to your heart? You listen to yourself when you listen to your heart. Do you dare to listen to your heart? |

Subject: RE: vin garbutt, heart bypass op From: GUEST,Betsy Date: 24 Jan 05 - 11:20 AM I've been to visit Vin a couple of times in hospital and he his in his usual good spirits. He has fluid on his lungs caused by a faulty heart valve . They're keeping him in for tests and observations he's been there since last Wednesday night, and yesterday his understanding was, that they intend to operate this Wednesday, so, it's not exactly a by-pass operation. They don't seem to know whether he has had this fault all his life ,or, whether it has recently developed . That's really as much as I can tell you - but I will try to keep you posted . |
Subject: vin garbutt, heart bypass op From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 05 - 10:02 AM Maybe on Wednesday, or a little later. Should be routine and back at work within weeks. |
Subject: RE: Vin Garbutt ill From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 21 Jan 05 - 02:53 PM Well, that's a lot more cheerful than I thought it'd be when I saw that heading on the thread. You had me pretty despondent for a moment there. Only thing is "not life threatening" doesn't in itself exclude worries that his ailment might be voice or performance theatening, and I hope and trust it won't be. Vin works far too hard anyway - assuming he's going to be all right, a bit of a rest won't do him any harm, and we might get some more songs out of it. |
Subject: RE: Vin Garbutt ill From: Rasener Date: 21 Jan 05 - 02:21 PM "I will keep you all posted as to his condition" Thats what it said on the website, so I won't be keeping you informed :-) http://www.vingarbutt.com/index.php?page=news |
Subject: Vin Garbutt ill From: Rasener Date: 21 Jan 05 - 02:18 PM Just looking at his website when I picked this up. Vin admitted to hospital 21-01-2005 Vin would like to profusely apologise to all of you who have been disappointed by the cancellation of several concerts this week. Vin was admitted to hospital on Wednesday following the onset of mild respiratory problems. He is now undergoing tests to ascertain the appropriate course of treatment. His consultant has found the cause of the problem which I would stress is not life threatening and Vin is now feeling much better. He is cheerful and receiving visitors and I will keep you all posted as to his condition. |
