Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 26 Jan 05 - 06:51 PM I have a spare room and extra beds - up to six, I think. So don't let the drive get in the way. Maybe we can get Linn to cook breakfast again. If not, I can. Lots of coffee, eggs, bagels, whatever. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 26 Jan 05 - 07:07 PM Sounds good, Sins (and put us in for one of the bedrooms). WARNING!!! Do not, I repeat DO NOT follow Sinsull's directions! Get her address and go to Yahoo Maps which has the best directions of the different sites I've tried. Especially do not ask Sinsull for the names of Exits off the Maine Pike or 295. Just remember, I've warned you. Linn |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: karen k Date: 27 Jan 05 - 12:20 AM Good idea. Bad weekend. I'll be at something else in NY. Another time for sure. Need lots of notice. So will the one in March be the 26th as well? k |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 27 Jan 05 - 11:29 AM And don't freeze the cream cheese - both lessons learned at my New Years Eve party. I haven't figured out a permanent date, Karen. We may be alternating with other houses. But it will be posted here ASAP and there is a bed for you. Mary |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Micca Date: 27 Jan 05 - 01:18 PM Linn, if you think Mary is bad at directions ask Sins about Berts Directions for finding Mudcat Central when I came to the 2001 Getaway!!!!! we spent a few happy hours ?touring? Western Pennsylvania. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 27 Jan 05 - 04:22 PM To be fair, it wasn't just the inaccurate directions -- the Maine Turnpike Authority's signage was atrocious! They'd recently renumbered all the exits and previous exit numbers were only readable as you went PAST the exit. And the reflective verbage on the signs wasn't reflective. Very very tricky to read in the dark and the rain. At least I'd actually been to Mary's house (but, alas, from her OLD house!) before and Tom and I were at least conversant with the general layout of South Portland and Portland. Tom had muttered things like "I'm never coming to Maine ever again" and the like. But by the next morning he'd forgiven Mary for the less than optimal directions and had had a wonderful time at the party and was looking forward to doing it again. And I have since gotten much much better directions from Yahoo Maps. Of course, that won't help the Maine Turnpike Authority's problems. Linn |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Brían Date: 27 Jan 05 - 09:15 PM Actually Kendall navigated me to the Micca gathering at SINSULL's. Brían |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 28 Jan 05 - 04:25 PM Maybe Capt. Morse could provide the longitude and latitude and we could just input the data to the new GPS units we got for Xmas. It's easier to find the 2nd time around. So carpool with someone who's been there. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Brían Date: 28 Jan 05 - 05:03 PM Why not stellar navigation (weather pemitting, of course)? :-) Brían |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 28 Jan 05 - 06:14 PM I hate you all. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Tinker Date: 28 Jan 05 - 06:15 PM Wish I was a tad closer.... maybe once the weather gets warmer I'll take a ramble up your way. The directions aren't a problem, only the time factors. tink |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 28 Jan 05 - 08:11 PM Listen me hearties and mark well what I do say, From the Maine turnpike, take exit 45 (formerly 7) go straight through the toll gates until you hit US route one. You must turn either right or left. If you go right you will get lost, so, go left toward the center of town.(East) Pass the RR yards on your right. At the first MAJOR intersection, (Cash Corner) take a right on Broadway. Continue in the right lane until you see Amato's sandwich shop.....[address deleted] See you there.

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 28 Jan 05 - 10:58 PM Uh...Kendall???? This is the internet. Now every wacko in the world knows my address and phone number! Have you lost your mind? SINS |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Naemanson Date: 29 Jan 05 - 02:22 AM Time to move Sins. I heard a couple of Japanese discussing your address just this morning.... Wish I could make it but I guess a quick trip home is out of the question. Besides, I have to be at the American Embassy sometime around that date. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Brían Date: 29 Jan 05 - 06:46 AM Mark his word well or he will be a sore vexation to thine soul. Or thou and thine hind quarters shall lead thee astray... Brían |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 29 Jan 05 - 07:52 AM Sorry about that, paint fumes...anyway, Joe deleted your address. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 29 Jan 05 - 08:57 AM I can't believe I was that thoughtless. I used to tell my kids, "Pay attention to what you are doing." Guess I'd better look into the mirror. I do apologize most humbly, Sinsull. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 29 Jan 05 - 09:51 AM At least now I know who put "For a good time, call SINS at (phone number deleted) on the Men's room wall at RIRA's. No harm done, Captain. Maybe I will actually get a date out of it. Too bad I don't speak Japanes. SINS |

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 10 Feb 05 - 02:10 PM Update: Jacqui and I have taken to wearing our Getaway buttons around the neighborhood and it worked. We have netted one eager 60s folkie Mom with a fiddler son and his group. Mom is a defimite. Hope she can snare the group. And pray for me that there is a banjo player in the bunch. I have an offer of mini-quiche. Is that folkie food? SINS |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: GUEST,MMario Date: 10 Feb 05 - 02:13 PM I think the "quiche" part is - not sure about "mini" |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 10 Feb 05 - 03:04 PM Amos- Did you inspire this ditty: In Boothbay Harbor there lives a whale, And she eats codfish by the bale, By the hat box, By the pillbox, By the shoebox and the schooner! Her name is Daisy and she's a peach, But don't let Amos within her reach, Or Mudcats, Or Dogfish, Or Chocolate Ice Cream Sodas. She probably still misses you. Cheerily, Charley Noble in the BLIZZARD OF 2005 |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: jacqui.c Date: 10 Feb 05 - 03:13 PM Mary - re the banjo player, have you checked the Getaway thread. They reckon they can keep you under control by introducing you to Leadfingers...... |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 10 Feb 05 - 05:37 PM I have resisted banjo players at the Getaway in the past. If Mick thinks I can be undone by a banjo player...I hope he's right. It's been a while since I have been undone. |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Brían Date: 10 Feb 05 - 07:58 PM Good. I'm glad someone revived this thread. I have way too much information on Helen Haas and her hundreds of hats. Brían |

Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 20 Feb 05 - 02:19 PM Well, it's left at Amato's if you're heading West. It's dead ahead if you're coming from the North. How's that for clarification? I'll try to make it, given clement weather. It's clear that banjos are not welcome... Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 20 Feb 05 - 04:08 PM Banjo players get first choice at seating, food service, and beverages. So far the weather looks good - mid 30s and sunny. Hope it holds. I would appreciate an approximate head count and a heads up if you plan to spend the night. I still have room for four more sleep-ins. Please note: I have cats and cat hair. Take your allergy meds before entering. I have noted two gluten intolerants. Anyone else have special needs? SINS |
