This really is overkill, but I thought it would be swamped in the other thread!
Kate Rusby features in a programme called "My Yorkshire" on Yorkshire ITV on Tuesday evening (Feb 1) at 7.30pm.

I'm not a fan but ANY folk music on UK TV is worth watching, I don't think overkill applies to Kate's TV appearances but to praise from over zealous fans.

sounds interesting. intriguing even. her music is always beautifully presented. I always think of her when I drive down Rushby Street in Sheffield - going to Hillsboro.

a big treat for her fans

Sooz - or anybody - be sure to let us know if this is ever repeated on national telly. Our ITV for that time slot is about babies...

Unfortunately our TV will, at that time, be monopolised by Mrs. Johnny who will be watching Arsenal v. Manchester United.

She's lovely to look at, she has a lovely voice and she is really down to earth.
She is not the greatest folk singer we have but let's just be happy she is reaching out beyond our world and making converts on the way.

I would have her at my folk club anyday - but she doesn't want to.

Because she has already taken up her quota of Folk Clubs for this year.
I can only offer 80 seats. She is playing to much bigger audiences.
I think thats understandable.
One day it might happen :-)

You can maybes catch her on the way down, Vilan.

May take a few years, though.

guest cos I'm at home
I caught the progrmme last night
Coming form Barnsley I am also familiar with the Cawthorne Cannon hall area

I was taken by how she resembles her dad facially and how she ahs become much more aware of her speach and lips, a prime requirement when diction in singing is vital

She is still very much down to earth and I remember when just a few yoear ago she was just a screaming kid at the back of a festival tent!

She has matured ag reat deal and I feel and know that from the likes of singarounds I have hosted at just what an influence she has had on teh younger singers who are just embarking upon building their own repertoire

the songs trad and otherise are out there, youngsters need to identify with the feel of the songs and their often latent meaning and parallels of current life

I have seen criticism from older singers; I still say that singers under 25/30 generally have not had the life experience to truly show the emotional side of trad song

this is where singers like Kate have the edge; she has already had many years of exposure to the songs and is now well placed to become a great singer

More power to your elbow and voice!!
Ray Padgett

......because she has already taken up her quota of Folk Clubs for this year....

In fairness she has done very few folk clubs even at the very start of her career.

When she was appearing with Katherine Roberts they did a fair few, but otherwise as a soloist/fronting a band she has mainly been a festival artist.

Best regards,

Dave Eyre

kate brings her band of folkies to the City Varieties in Leeds every year. it's the theatre used for the old time music hall which used to be on telly but its so wee that it is smaller than some folk clubs I've been to.
Maybe she counts it in her quota.
