Wolf Tones (?) again

I looked for this on the Forum search already, but none of the threads I turned up addressed what I'm hearing. And it may be my hearing aids, or it may be just my wacky hearing, because no one else in the room seems to hear it. I'm just wondering if anybody else has heard something similar, or maybe everybody else ALWAYS hears it, and my poor ears have just discovered how to decipher it. ANYWAY.

SOMETIMES when Reynaud's playing concertina and I'm playing either low D, low G, or tenor recorder, usually on something slow, like Gentle Maiden or Star of the County Down, I hear something I can only describe as Celestial Choirs. It fades in and fades out quickly, and can't be intentionally replicated. Tim says he doesn't hear anything unusual. I have tinnitus that sometimes gives me celestial choirs when there is no music at all, but this is much more intense than that.

I'm assuming that if it were "wolf tones," based on what I've read here, Tim would hear it, and it would be unpleasant for him. Maybe what I'm hearing is overtones that everyone with normal hearing always hears?

Any ideas???

Where I come from SotCD is about as slow as Soldiers' Joy or Turkey In The Straw. Are we living in parallel universes?

   Yes, it's possible that you are hearing overtones. However, when I am playing whistle along with an accordion or concertina player, it sometimes sounds like there are extra reeds which have air moving through them, and indeed, that can happen. SOmetimes the reeds are just "sticky" or not quite right, and a reed or two will sound when it is not supposed to. It's usually the same one or ones every time.

Estate planning....well, we're "planning" to take all the instruments with us, since neither one of us plays the harp (yet!)

We're playing SotCD as a moderate tempo because a third person will be singing the lyrics, which seem to lend themselves to a sort of romantic lilting tempo. We also chose to go with 3/4 instead of 4/4. I have heard this tune done 2 or 3 different ways (including the SJ tempo) and it's amazing how good it sounds regardless of how it's arranged.

As for the beverages we're imbibing!!!!...actually we were cold sober at the time, but I'll have to see what the results are after a few draughts of something stronger than tea...

The "extra reeds" explanation might be it...Reynaud's only been playing the concertina since June, and he's starting to experiment with chords, so maybe he's trying that, and to him it sounds just like it's spozed to, and to me it sounds like celestial choirs...
