does any one have or know where i can get hold of the lyrics for " it's cold on the road tonight" the full chorus is:-

I was singing it just the other night. My take on the words from an old tape is as follows.

No clouds in the sky tonight, no blanket for the moon's cold light
Footsteps sliding on the frozen ground.
Your breath like smoke before your eyes, fingers numb deep down inside
Pockets of your coat wrapped right around.

Chorus (but I make it 'so far from the fireside' not 'fire light')

Jack Frost is painting cobbled streets, his brush is touching all it meets
His canvas is as far as you can see.
His palette is a little bare, you'll only find one colour there
A whitewashed world hangs in the gallery.

You're thinking about your room back home that shelters everything you own.
The friendly feel of your favourite old armchair.
The clock ticks gentle hours away as nighttime wanders into day

I've never been too sure of that last line.   Hope it helps

Colin wrote some other great songs sung by Tom Toppin Band, of which no-one seemed to have heard when I posted a query a year or two back. Malcolm Douglas identified them (well, he would, wouldn't he?)
