Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: GUEST, NOMADman Date: 06 Feb 05 - 07:53 AM Yes (sigh). I will definitely miss Andy's. I started buying stuff there way back in the '70s, and a large percentage of my sizable collection of recorded music came from Andy's - lots of LPs (remember them?). I just received my last shipment of CDs a few days ago. It was a great service to the Folk community. But, heck, after 30 years or so, everybody's entitled to retirement. For us easterners there's still the Old Songs Festival. Best wishes and best of luck Andy. You've earned the thanks and affection of lots of us. Regards, John |
Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: Anglo Date: 06 Feb 05 - 02:44 PM To answer Number 6 - just books and recordings. |
Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: number 6 Date: 06 Feb 05 - 05:45 PM Thanks Anglo ... that is what's stated at Andy's website. The is also no indication that Andy's 'closing shop' ... just a stament of an inventory clearance sale. sIx |
Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: GUEST Date: 06 Feb 05 - 06:13 PM They don't have it on the web site, yet, but the latest postcard says "Our retail mail-order business will close May 1st, 2005... retiring!" 30 years is a pretty amazing run! ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: georgeward Date: 07 Feb 05 - 01:57 PM Mind, "retiring" in Andy's case means she need only work full time running Old Songs. -G |
Subject: RE: Andys Front Hall From: Gypsy Date: 07 Feb 05 - 11:06 PM It do sound as though the brick and mortar store will be intact.......think it is just the 'net that will be gone, and the catalogue. But since i live on the west coast.......*sniff* |
