this might be considered BS but anyways...if you were a song what would you be? Would you be a Wild Rover or a Red Haired Mary? Are you a bold deciever or a daughter of Erin?

I'd say I'd have to go with " Old Maid In The Garret " because it's a long standing joke among me and my married friends about me being an " old spinster " and besides which the song itself just makes me laugh {O)

" Now there's my sister Jean,
She's not handsome or good-lookin'
Scarcely sixteen
And a fella she was courtin'
Now she's twenty-four
With a son and a daughter,
Here am I at forty-four
And I've never had an offer!

And it's Oh Dear Me! How will it be,
If I die an Old Maid in the Garret? "

Probably I could come up with about a hundred possibilities, but (aside from imagining being the tiger in The Lady and the Tiger), the one that occurs to me first is "Maybe Next Week Sometime."

Me and that ghost were running breast to breast,
The ghost said, "Hey, buddy, why don't we set down and take a little rest?"
I said, "Unh-uh, buddy, not now---no no, not now,
But maybe next week sometime.

Partly I guess because I'm a leery type, procrastinator and general avoider.

Bob

I'd be some complicated song like Dylan's "Jokerman", I guess...something with spiritual overtones.

On some days, one of the "Three Drunken maidens" :)

On others, sort of like Icarus in Ann Lister's (SP?) song.

Lady Margaret who sits in a high tower and sees everything but stays aloof and cool and beautiful. Then when she dies becomes a ghost and asks questions about bed linen, for ever and ever. Cheers Joy.

Quite fancy being 'The fair maid on the shore' but would require a goodly imagination. Will have to think more on this one.

A long time ago my brother started singing "Yo ho Yo ho a pirate's life for Layah" and it sort of became my theme song. Being a song about pirates would be almost as good as being a pirate.

I've always identified quite a lot with "I'm just a gal who cain't say no".

There's also "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with"

My analyst told me that I was right out of my head
But I said dear doctor, I think that it's you instead
Because I have got a thing that's unique and new
And to prove that I'll have the last laugh on you:
'Cause instead of one head--I've got two!
And you know two heads are better than one.....

From "The Castle of Dromore" (Clancy's "October Winds"). Clan Owens wild banshee was, in my younger, foolish days, me. I particularly admire, "Take head young eaglet, 'til thy wings are feathered fit to soar." Minds me of my father when I would do something stunned and have to be "backed up". He'd say, "Don't fuck with the eagles 'til you learn to fly."

From Charlie Daniels before he took that severe turn to the right...

If you don't like the way that I'm livin'
you can just leave this long-haired country boy alone...

(I don't do the "I get drunk in th' mornin' - get stoned in th' afternoon" part of that song anymore, but the rest of it still fits.)

There is a song that resonates with me - "Jenny o' the braes". There's the name for a start. I like being in nature, I like simple pleasures and I enjoy my own company. I can be sorta hermit-like and a bit odd at times. So I can picture this maybe being me in my old age when I become more so.

sixtieschick, Lambert, Hendrix and Ross. Annie Ross. One of my very favorites! I'm close to this one too! Sometimes I'm "Twisted", sometimes I'm way too straight! Sometimes I'm hard as nails, sometimes I'm as soft as cotton. Sometimes I'm creative and way abstract, sometimes I color between the lines... Honey says I'm his "Brown-eyed Girl". (You ain't seen nothing yet)

I'm considering...

I'm someone different every minute so its hard to decide.

I'll be back when it's perfect..

Love, Annamill

Definitely, definitely Merlins Song

'Born to an age of reason mystery is my theme
Mine is the song of seasons, mine is the ancient dream
Some men would call me holy - others the devil's son (daughter)
I do no more than has always been done'

JennyO, take a look at "Where are the Joys" (the title sounds like one of the many songs about me, but it's not) It's about "Jenny, fair Jenny alone". It's one of Robbie Burns's. Doesn't actually mean she's alone but you could take it that way. Cheers, Joy

I'd be somewhere between the Utah Phillips tune, "Hymn Song"...

"I believe if I lived my life again.
I would still be here with you."

... and the Tom Dundee song, "These Cowboys".

"The range has been settled for years, now,
The old wranglers passed on with thier kind.
But, every now and again,
You'll run into these men;
These cowboys born out of thier time."

Stephen Lee
