Well,I just started to regularly scan & post below the BS line..


Besides- I'm on dial-up..which means I can't even get that huge threade .

Anyway I guess I'll have to see for myself but since I can't right now..can anyone tell me what's the difference between the MOABS thread and the individual sometimes witty BS threads like those devoted to a particular kitchen utensil that starts with an 's', or a kitchen utensil whose initials are 'ss', or an object beginning with a 't' that is used to check if a person is hot...

Ah, but think of what you're missing! I actually like our exclusive set of posters--it's like a club over there! The banter among friends, few rules, and those rarely enforced, and we don't (until the unfortunate situation with the kitchen implements) usually bleed out into the rest of Mudcat. We save the clones a lot of grief by not starting new threads that later need to be lumped or sorted. (if you all want to seriously combat the CAPSLOCK problem, there is a setting in WIN XP that gives a little 'bleep' when you hit it)....but for all Windoze versions there is First Cap which will warn you, using any sound you choose, no matter where you typing....and you can set rules as to what it pays attention to.

It really does work,....freeware, of course...

***BE WARNED**....if you go to the home site for anything except downloading this, TURN OFF COOKIES....It wants to load info about lots of stuff, and has a cookie for everything.

MG, the MOAB is inexplicable. A self-aware thread propogated by those who post there. Few rules and little coherency -- much like Congress in that respect. But MOAB drips with wit and intelligence since politics and religion are verboten topics (if seriously proposed they will be ignored).

You do not need to read all of the posts, or any of the posts for that matter.

We put a cake out for anyone who comes over, but Bee-Dubya says we have to leave it out, especially if it rains. Something about green frosting, too.

And, since Martin mentioned it, the "You Must Leave Now" thread has evolved into a continuous stream-of-consciouness string of song lyrics. It's quite fun. All you need do is open it, read the last post, which will be a bit of song lyrics, and post another bit of lyrics that that post brings to mind. If the last post was "I gave my love a cherry that had no stone" I may respond with "Papa was a rolling stone" and the next person may chime in with "Rolling in my sweet baby's arms" etc. It's fun to check back several posts later and see what direction it's taken.

I have no idea why it's in the BS section since almost every post is lyrics to songs which would certainly make it a music thread in my humble estimation...

I have not posted to the "MOAB" thread. I prefer to keep my head "above the Line" to where really relevant threads are. Mudcat was intended to be a "music" forum, however, due to the fact that humans have gotten involve, the "BS" of humans has followed.

For years I have fought against the inanities & insanities that have pollutted this forum & have helped lower the once high standards that once were held sacred at the Cafe.

I finally won a small, but decisive, victory when I convinced (after much debate, I grant you!) the PTB to separate the BS from the worthwhile threads with a division line...Music related threads above & "BS" below, where it belongs!

Now I am on a mission (from the "BIG GUY"? Perhaps!) to see that the defiling "BS" threads are moved to a totally separate page!! Many of my Fellow Music-Loving Mudcateers have voiced via PM that they still detect the faint noxious odor or BS reeking through the Line of Separation & thereby distracting them from serious music-related study.

Pay attention, PTB...we are many yet we speak with one voice! "Separate Pages" is our chant..our vision...our quest!

Yeah! That's the idea! Only funnier. And the only "person" we've gratuitously killed off has been an alien named Bubba-Bubba who looked like Heather Locklear. But it turned out he/she/it was really a giant fungus in disguise. When his/her/its visa expired and his/her/its own people, known as "Freds", tried to get him/her/it to board the spaceship for the trip home he/she/it pitched a temper tantrum and the city of Seattle was destroyed in a giant fireball. Unfortunately, before his/her/its demise he/she/it had mated in some weird ritual involving khandu, a Labrador Retriever and myself. The Lab depositted the eggs someplace in the Mojave Desert and we're waiting for them to hatch so we can see who gets hit with the paternity suit.
