Subject: New live music event in Cottingham From: GUEST,Captain Swing Date: 08 Feb 05 - 12:27 PM This is to publicise a new event at the King Billy in Cottingham, which runs each Sunday from 8.15. With the working title 'Cottingham Acoustic,' the evening takes the form of a lively, eclectic open mic session. While the focus is not specifically folk based we will welcome folk/trad acts. The aim is to present performers of a range of musical styles with the only qualifications being that they have talent and are essentially acoustic. There is no charge on the door and there is a decent PA system. |

Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: Alaska Mike Date: 10 Feb 05 - 11:34 AM Where is Cottingham? Will you be operating in August while my wife and I are visiting England? Mike |
Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 10 Feb 05 - 12:09 PM I was going to stay in to wash my hair but I suppose I could do that next month. Is Cottingham still the biggest village in the world or has Milton Keynes bypassed it? Cottingham is next to Hull where lots of funny people live. |
Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: GUEST,Captain Swing Date: 10 Feb 05 - 02:09 PM Alaska Mike Cottingham is just north of Hull on the east coast of England. We hope to be open in August but you'll have to watch this space. Hand-Pulled Boy As far as I know, the Miton Keynes by-pass doesn't touch Cottingham. However, the Beverley by-pass is nearby. You are right about the funny people though |
Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: ossonflags Date: 11 Feb 05 - 04:50 AM Is it no smoking? |

Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: Paco Rabanne Date: 11 Feb 05 - 08:55 AM Is fox hunting allowed in this pub? |
Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: GUEST,Captain Swing Date: 11 Feb 05 - 09:42 AM Re Smoking - Opinion is divided at the moment. There seem to be four options, a) have no restrictions on smoking, b) ban smoking altogether, c) allow smoking in specified areas, d) make smoking compulsory. Re Fox Hunting - Unfortunately not allowed due to fire hazard. However, we thought we may be in for a drag hunt when the landlady said there was a big TV in the room. Sadly it turned out to be of the wide-screen variety. |
Subject: RE: New live music event in Cottingham From: GUEST,strummy Date: 11 Feb 05 - 07:53 PM Hi I am the one responsible for the acoustic sess in cottingham. Its in its fourth week. Yes you can smoke, no you can't hunt foxes, not sure about smoking foxes...... The crack (as it were). Anything goes as long as it is acoustic and reasonably inoffensive. It runs from 8.15ish - 10.30ish. Anyway, the plans are 1. maybe have a featured artist once a month 2. run the odd silly competition 3. play, have fun etc etc do come it will be grand. Just drop us a line at our email address if you wanna know more. |
