Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Peace Date: 09 Feb 05 - 08:24 PM I know this should likely be above the line, but I didn't know where to put it. Sorry if I have done another no-no. However, the piece is beautiful. |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Little Hawk Date: 09 Feb 05 - 08:43 PM Hi, Bruce. Yeah, I listened to it and it's very beautiful. There's a lot of intriguing stuff on her website. It's set up in a kind of strange way, so it takes time to get through it. |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Peace Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:12 PM Refresh so I can find it again. |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Teresa Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:17 PM Which one? ... there are many music links there. ... Teresa |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Bill D Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:19 PM well, the first 17 or so of her links didn't work, so I guess she doesn't keep the page up to date....VERY strange site...(the music I can leave alone) |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Peace Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:25 PM Sorry. Teresa, I was enraptured by the music that comes up when you click the link. Thought it was a nice piece. I didn't even try any other of the stuff on the site. |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Teresa Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:28 PM Ah, I didn't hear music; I'll try it again. Teresa |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: CarolC Date: 09 Feb 05 - 11:44 PM I couldn't get it when I used Firefox, so I switched to Explorer and I found it in the upper left corner. The lady who was speaking sounds a lot like the Irish actress who used to be on "Touched by an Angel". (Roma Downey?) |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 10 Feb 05 - 06:09 AM Nothing happened when I clicked the upper left corner (found the icon, but it isn't working). I'll try again later. Allison |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Peace Date: 10 Feb 05 - 06:22 AM Just noticed that one needs Real Player to listen. Sorry for the confusion and problems. Please send poison pen letters to me via message and I will not respond after reading. |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: GUEST,skipy Date: 10 Feb 05 - 08:11 AM I clicked on it but all I could hear was the noise of a dozen + plastic moulding machines, is this because I haven't got & speakers on my computer & because I work in plastic injection moulding? Skipy |

Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Swave N. Deboner Date: 11 Feb 05 - 12:41 PM Brucie, Positively beautiful. Goosebumps and streaming tears. The Uilleann pipes are a nice touch. Thanks for sharing Nancy's site. SND |
Subject: RE: BS: You have to hear this. From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Feb 05 - 05:03 PM Try this: http://www.angelsink.com/Roma.wav. I think it is Roma Downey, but I haven't been able to verify that. Can't say it's my taste, but it is pretty. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Swave N. Deboner Date: 13 Feb 05 - 09:46 PM I asked Joe to move this from the BS threads, where Brucie originally posted it. If you have one drop of Gaelic blood in your veins, you will not fail to be moved by the song that plays when you click on the link in Joe's post above, and by Roma's spoken blessing. I don't profess to know Gaelic (damned sure wish I did), but I'm Scots/Irish, and as they say, the blood runs strong. Slainte' SND |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Teresa Date: 13 Feb 05 - 10:27 PM Not to whine, but ... there is something wrong with me or my computer. I can't hear a thing; either it's John cage's "Two Minutes of celtic Silence" or my machine selectively refuses to play anything from this thread. :) Teresa |

Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Peace Date: 13 Feb 05 - 11:03 PM Crap, Teresa, that doesn't wprk either. I will keep digging for a way for you to hear this. |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Swave N. Deboner Date: 14 Feb 05 - 09:33 AM Teresa, Try downloading the free Quicktime player from the link below. I have several other players on this PC, but my default player is Quicktime. When I click the link in Joe's post, the file opens and plays just fine. I really do hope you are able to hear it. The melody is beautiful, the singer's voice is sweet and clear, so typical of Gaelic singers, and Roma's recitation of the blessing is quite moving. I've put the link to the wav file below so you don't have to jump between posts. Good Luck SND http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ http://www.angelsink.com/Roma.wav |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: GUEST,Mindblast Date: 14 Feb 05 - 11:14 AM I thought that you folk at mudcat were music lovers - How wrong I was. How can anybody listen to this piffle! "The light of Jesus" crap. I'm surprised that she didn't ask for donations to be made to paypal to save your soul. Total poop... |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Arkie Date: 14 Feb 05 - 08:27 PM Does anyone know the name of the artist or the song that is playing? |
Subject: RE: You have to hear this. From: Swave N. Deboner Date: 15 Feb 05 - 09:34 AM Arkie, I've been researching that information. The song is titled, "An Irish Blessing." Phil Coulter composed the music, and, though it is Roma Downey speaking the blessing, she doesn't sing the song. I haven't found out who the singer is yet. Incidentally, the track is from Roma's CD, "Healing Angel." I would post a link to a website where you can purchase the CD, but the "blue clicky" function here on the 'Cat doesn't seem to want to load when I click on it, for some reason. If you discover who is singing on that track, please post to this thread. I want to know who it is, too. SND |
