Subject: Obit: Pete Sayers From: cptsnapper Date: 13 Feb 05 - 02:45 PM I was sad to hear the news that Pete died recently. He was known both in his own right in both country & folk music but perhaps especially during the last few years for his radio appearances with Christopher South on Radio Cambridge in his persona of Denis of Grunty Fen. He'll be much missed |
Subject: RE: Obit: Pete Sayers From: Tobyjug Date: 13 Feb 05 - 03:19 PM I remember him well, with his Western hat and great banjo and guitar playing, bringing fine music and pleasure to many folk clubs and festivals. A sad loss and our condolences to his family. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Pete Sayers From: GUEST,Graham Cooper Date: 14 Feb 05 - 01:53 PM I spent some wonderful times with Pete, and learned so much about the Music. I will sadly miss him. He and I spoke last year about his illness and although I now live In Portugal, I could still see that grin and hear the spirit across the miles of telephone. He was still pickin'and grinnin' and for me he always will be. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Pete Sayers From: GUEST,Greycap Date: 15 Feb 05 - 04:00 AM Toured with him on CSE jobs a few times- had a great dinner together one night at the Hotel Zur Muhle in Gutersloh. I think I'll remember him like that, pouring a glass of wine after a good meal. Rest easy, Pete, |
