Subject: RE: Folklore: On Grammy Night - Elegy for Dave Van Ron From: Nancy King Date: 14 Feb 05 - 07:16 PM What a very nice piece -- good for Christine Lavin. I'm not sure I can handle watching the whole Grammy show, but I hope this album wins. (and I gotta get me a copy of it, whether it wins or not...) One of the things I've always loved about Van Ronk is his eclectic choice of songs -- everything from "Careless Love" to "One Meatball" to "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" to "My Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua Hawaii" to "Bryan O'Lynne" to "Cocaine Blues" to "Teddy Bears Picnic" to...... Great memories of a folk giant. Nancy |

Subject: RE: Folklore: On Grammy Night - Elegy for Dave Van Ron From: nager Date: 14 Feb 05 - 08:44 PM Thanks Voyager for drawing our attention to it...I have been a lifelong fan of Dave Van Ronk and it was great to read Christine Lavin's article. Pity Dave's album did not win the awards. Beautiful Dreamer is a great album too though. |
