Heres a brainbuster. Ive just been looking at the competition on the Broad Tradition web site (www.broadtradition.com). I thought I knew quite a bit about British folk guitarists, but some of the questions have me stumped. I really wanted to win the ISB CD set too, but cant answer even half the questions. Hope someone has more luck than me.

Cheers
LL

Number 4 sounds distinctly like Dick Gaughan (Coppers and Brass album?) but I don't have the album so can't verify that. The first sounds very like Gordon Giltrap. Dave Evans 3? But again only a guess as I don't have any albums.

Peace

Hi Mooman
Yes I thought it was Dick Gaughan too, but I have the Coppers..... album and its not a track from there.
The quest continues

Thanks

Seems the concensus of opinion is that track one is by Gordon Giltrap, with Wizz Jones running as second favourite.
Anyone know the title of the Dick Gaughan track though?

Cheers
LL

Influenced by Carthy and Graham,he plays in the English style ... so stylistically, he can be classed as English. Anyway, it is an honour for him to be so called.

Sorry people. I headed this thread "English" folk guitarists, but the competition actually states "British" so would incorporate Scotland too.

But if it is Dick Gaughan, whats the name of the track?

Cheers

LL
