p.s. Actually, the Japanese attacks on America in '41 WERE provoked by Roosevelt's trade embargo on Japan...but that's beside the point. It was still blatant aggression, regardless. Roosevelt needed a war in order to deal with Germany, and he got one.

Now, Bobert, I have a simple answer to your question, "What makes Condi lie?"

Politics, Bobert. Politics. It makes all of them lie frequently. If Kerry had gotten elected president, he would be telling lies now too, and hanging in in Iraq. Our PM, Paul Martin, lies regularly. It goes with the job. You've almost GOT to lie. You're in big trouble if you don't. In Ms Rice's case, the lies are pretty outrageous, admittedly, but hey, when you launch "pre-emptive" attacks on other countries...like the Germans did on a number of occasions (Poland, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Greece, Russia), and like the Japanese did on a number of occasions (China, French Indochina, Hong Kong, Malaya, the Dutch East Indies, Pearl Harbour, etc)...well...then the lies necessarily HAVE to get pretty wild. How DO you call unprovoked aggression, "liberation"? Hmmm. It's a toughie.

So, give her a break, man! She's undah presshah! :-)

Okay, I know this isn't a true obituary, but maybe it is for this national sport, at least as we know it at the professional level. I also know that few folks outside of Canada (or Canadians) are interested, so please bear with me, or skip to the next thread.

For two years, the players and owners have been arguing back and forth over a new binding agreement for wages, bonuses, job security, etc. The most recent contract expired this past spring/summer, and since then the owners have locked out the players... now, on the eve of cancelling the entire season, the players' union has gone back and said, "Okay owners, you can get what you want (sorta)." But, the owners rejected that offer, wanting a little more....

that being said... does anyone care? as far as hockey fans like myself, I mean...

Condi Rice went beforew the 9/11 Comissiopn and said she didn't have a clue that Al Qida was out to get us then....

Yesterdays New York Times gets their hands on a copy of a 13 page memo writtne by Ricartd Carke (rememeber him) sent to Condi Rice telling her just about everything that Al Qidi had panned for the US except the actual date and time???

So Condi tells the 9/11 Commisssion that she didn't have a clue???

Like, now that the 13 page detailed memo about what Al Qida had planned for the US (with the exception ot the *exact dates and times*) I am wondering what Condi and her apologists have to say???
